Changing masks during the night

Post by Newsgrouper » Wed Jun 08, 2005 3:40 pm

I have been using two maske during the night and having some success. I am using a Ultra Mirage FF mask and a FP HC431 FF mask. I wear one to bed and then change to the other when the first mask wakes me (through leaks or discomfort) in the early morning. It feels great to put a different mask on and I am able to quickly return to sleep.

I like both these masks and enjoy the difference in the Mirage below the lip design and the FP below the chin design. I wear a FF mask due to lip leak and really like the The below the chin design because it acts like a chin strap and keeps my mouth closed.

Does anyone else change masks during the night?

What a good idea, Newsgrouper!

I've switched masks during the night when I was trying a new one and found it didn't work well - gone back to a favorite. But I've never switched during the night just as a matter of routine if a favorite began to be bothersome. But I can see where that would help....as you say, just putting a different one (different brand, even if same style) on can feel better.

Lots of people find it comfortable to rotate between two or three masks from night to night, but switching during the night sure sounds like a good idea when an otherwise favorite mask wakes us up after a few hours. Thanks for mentioning that!

Thanks RG.... I keep the alternate mask on the dresser (washed and ready to go) and it is at hand when I feel like ripping off the first one. The fresh one is cool and clean and touches the face differently than the other. I have two masks to clean in the morning but that is a small price to pay.

I am currently alternating each night between two masks. Haven't had the need to switch during the night, but it is certainly a good idea for those that are having serious troubles and especially when just starting out, which is when its hardest to adapt.

With ANY mask rotation, you will find its much easier to get used to a mask, and might find you eventually don't need to switch DURING the night.

I alternate masks from time to time, or will use one for a nap and then another for the night. But i think last night was the first time I actually switched masks. My thought was to get up at 4AM, but then I thought I'd try the Swift on my latest setting (13)... and fell back to sleep!

So now I'm not sure which mask to use... The HC405 leaks a bit at this pressure, but the Swift is noisier.... decisions, decisions... <LOL>
