I'll bet that if you tried a "local" DME that they would gladly switch you to their service. Another place you could try is the Pulmonary Labs at a local hospital. The ones here do oximetrys with an order. There is a charge, but it is minimal. You would probably have to pick up the equipment and drop it back off. Also, if your Dr has a good relationship with a DME maybe he could pull a favor. Where the problem is, is that the DME that said they wouldn't do it knows that your DME should do it. I sort of comes down to principal. You could also call Medicare ( I assumed Medicare insurance because of the 36 month rental) You could call 1 800 Medicare and see how they feel on the issue. I'll bet they say that your DME has to do it. If you lived in my area you could come be my patient. I would do an oximetry. I'll bet you would be surprised about being able to find another DME.

Thanks for the sugestions. I already tried the hospital. The sleep lab is part of the local hospital. All they could do is a new titration. I will try another Local DME. The one I am using is definally a Local. I don't think my Doc has any good relations to call in because I seem to be his only OSA patient, but he has been doing a good job and is willing to work with me.

To bad I can't turn back time because I spent a lot of time in Kansas, I'd come see you. My daughter did her graduate work at WSU. But that was some time ago!

Just ordered my 7500 oximeter ... and the $3 scissors to save the $20 shipping.

Hope it doesn't take a month to get here. I'm pretty sure I run low on O2 saturation even on CPAP. If I fall asleep in front of the puter or in my recliner I would bet money I'm real low.

The last episode I had in the recliner which I wrote about here I think I was real close to taking a permanent nap.

When you get the 7500, please give us a "report" on how the deal went. $249 is about 1/2 what I paid.....and is one heck-of-a-deal! There will be others who need that instrument.....and you'll help them with your info.

Me too. I am curious if this is the first model that required you to tape the sensor to your finger. The newer model has a permanent rubber enclosure for the sensor, which attaches to your finger. I've had both, and the newer one is much better. Also eliminated the on/off switch- now you just put it on and it starts.

I am curious as to how you download the information. It doesn't really tell you much. Hopefully you wouldn't have to go to a sleep lab to get the info. Be sure and let us know the procedure on that. Thanks jimb

At $500 the software and cable come w/the SPO 7500 wrist recording oximeter. I "thought" I read they also come w/the $249 offering but you might want to double check that before ordering.

The software was easy to install and start using. As usual the manual is clear as mud but really is simple to use, at least for the data you are most interested in. I'm sure I haven't used the full capabilities of the software but I have been able to glean the important info that my doc and I are interested in.

I just haven't felt clear headed enough, or had the energy to seriously sit down and how to utilize it to coordinate almost exactly w/the AutoScan software data yet.

The Med1Online offer ($249) indicates that it
"Includes: Wrist Oximeter, Data Management Software, USB Cable, Carry Case"

Note it does NOT mention the "silicone thimble sensor" that other vendors mention in their description. In addition the picture on Med1Online shows the sensor taped to the finger. So as per an earlier message it might be a first generation machine with the tape on sensor and without the auto on/off.

I have one on order and eager to see. I am sure as soon as one of us receive the item we will report.

Edited to add I added Dynatronics Coverletspots $6.60 to get the free shipping. I don't anticipate using the bandage scissors but can always use bandages.

The software is very easy to download......and is quite good for our purposes. It might not be good enough for the "Mayo Clinic".....but, hose- heads (and prospective hose-heads) find that it does the job.

I had considered purchasing another software package....but James Skinner advised me that the SPO software that came with the 7500 was entirely adequate. He was correct.....and I didn't waste a bunch of bucks on software that is no better than standard issue.

The Med1online site is unclear and contradictory about the SPO pulse oximeter price everyone is excited about. Going to other sites, the 7500h has no memory while the 7500 has recording software, cable and download capability. But right under the price for the 7500h on the med1online site is a description that includes software, cable and download capability but references the 7500? It looks to me like this may not be a great deal but just a case of unclear communication on the site. The 7500h sells for $247 on other sites.

Good catch, MilkMan! I wonder if you printed out the description they are using w/the price clearly shown as well, ordered it and it turned out to be the 7500h instead, if you could "stick" them w/replacing the 7500h w/the 7500? False advertising, etc.

Just arrived

Box indicates 7500. (No H indicator) It does have CD and USB connector.

Has silicone finger thimble & notes improved on/off so it appears to be a second generation machine.

Yep, received mine today as well! Hooray! It is the recording unit, complete with software and USB cable. I must admit that I was a little worried that this might have been an error with the item description on their website, but apparently not. Just checked the website again, no change, so looks like this is the real deal.
The software permits selection of the recording intervals, set it at 1 second. The report looks pretty comprehensive as well.
