Hans Rudolph 7600 V2 mask

Post by Dgrendahl » Mon Dec 03, 2007 6:05 pm

Well, I finally did it. I placed an order today for this mask and am really looking forward to getting it. Out of curiosity, is anyone else here getting one or has one? I have yet to find a F.F. mask that has worked for me. If this one doesn't, I give up!

Hans Rudolph was sending one to my sleep lab for me to go in and try. My appointment was supposed to be today. Unfortunately, the lab called me last week and cancelled my appointment as my doctor's schedule is up in the air and they haven't called me with a new appointment yet.

Likewise I'm eager to hear how well your new mask works for others on this forum. I too have been having a great deal of trouble finding a full-face mask that fits.

Alas, unlike many others on this forum I'm a bit more timid to try something too new. I'll keep fiddling with my current mask collection until initial reviews are in. (I keep thinking my Quattro *almost* fits and I'm *almost* happy with it. Alas, *almost* only works for horseshoes ... about every 3rd day I'm ready to bust my Quattro into quattro piezas... )

I'm seriously considering a Hans-Rudold FF myself. But if you read the user reviews in CPAP.com, it seems to get a pretty bad rap.

Tell me K.C.R., is there something that these disatisfied users could be doing / not doing that they don't get the full benefit of your mask?

PLease accept my welcome to the forum as well, KCR. I'm ashamed to admit I forget the name of the lady I spoke to at Hans Rudolph. She had asked the name of my sleep lab and in a second call to me told me that she had talked to my sleep lab manager and that she would try to have one of the original HR's sent to my sleep lab by the date of my 10 Dec 07 appointment.

She did explain that HR does NOT make a practice of sending sample HR's to sleep labs but would try to make an exception in my case.

I had spoken to a HR user who liked hers. My primary interest was in the fact that it appeared the original HR fit lower on or just below the bridge of the nose. I've found I've had my best luck w/the ComfortLite 2 simple nasal cushion and the Simplicity simple nasal cushion (Petite) "because" they do fit below the bridge of the nose. However, I do have COPD and there are times that I need to use a full face mask.

In reality, my sleep lab manager never received a sample HR and she said that she had talked to HR in the past and was told it is HR policy NOT to provide sample masks to sleep labs.

Evidently, the lady I talked to at HR was not able to convince the higher ups to send a sample to my sleep lab as they never received one. They had several full face masks for me to try and I am working w/a Quattro right now that seemed the most promising. I didn't want to ask my local DME supplier to go to the expense of special ordering an expensive full face mask for me unless I was pretty darn sure it would work for me. This DME supplier has been great to me and gone out of their way to help me out unlike the sheister DME I started out with.

Now, had I still been w/the sheister DME supplier NOTHING would have made me happier than having them special order in SEVERAL of the most expensive full face masks that I KNEW wouldn't work for me just for spite.

Slinky,

Just so you know, we do provide samples at an extremely discounted rate to sleep labs for use in the lab. Also, our prices to the DME, contrary to popular belief, are not ridiculously high.

Most likely your sleep lab was not willing to pay the discounted rate to recieve our sample program. If you would like I will place a call to the sleep lab you are currently working with or at least chase down where the ball dropped with the last one and do what I can to get our mask in their hands for you to try.

Just call (800) 456-6695 and ask for me or drop me an email at hrisales@rudolphkc.com. I will need your information as well as your sleep lab's info.

Sorry to hear your past difficulties, but hopefully they can be resolved.

I have used the hans rudolph, as well as every other full face mask on the market except for the Soyala and I can confidently say a few things:

My face has unusual geometry that makes full face masks difficult to fit. My dentist and oral surgeon say I have a receded jaw.

The flexible Hans Rudolph fit the best out of all of the masks I tried. It is made almost entirely of flexible silicone which helps it to contour better to the face than the rigid masks with just a small flexible seal.

I found that I needed 1 to 2 sizes smaller than the other full face masks I had been fitted for. I used a medium in the comfortful and ultra mirage for example, but needed a small in the Hans Rudolph. But the x-small that a very kind Aussie sent me for free fit me as well.

I have not seen or tried the V2 (newest version of the HR) but I'm curious. I'm very happy with my Swift mask right now and have weathered 3 colds with it recently, so maybe I won't need a full face mask.

I have no affiliation with Hans Rudolph, but I feel compelled to offer these opinions since their mask gets such bad reviews at cpap.com. I think the bad reviews are entirely due to people ordering the wrong size and have nothing to do with what the HR masks COULD be if fitted properly.
