5 Hour Energy Drink

Post by Hunter1 » Tue Jan 01, 2008 9:28 am

I have been using CPAP for about 7 months. While I have seen improvement, I still get sleepy during day and most of the time take a sleep break after lunch.

Recently starting using 5 Hour Energy when I feel I am getting sleepy.

No more afternoon sleep breaks. I feel normal and am able to function the rest of day.

Anyone out there have anything good or bad to say about 5 Hour Energy? It seems to be working for me.

You might want to watch the caffeine amounts you are ingesting.

In 1990 I overdosed on caffeine from Pepsi products -- it was my drink of choice.

To make a long story short -- it sent my blood pressure to dangerous levels. Doctor ended up putting me in the hospital for a few days until they could get my bp stabilized and back down.

I was told by the specialist to treat my caffeine addiction like a life threatening allergy and it was imperative I stay away from it. I was told that even small amounts will have a negative effect on me.

Yep, I agree! I think most (all?) of those "energy drinks" are loaded with caffeine--not good for one's health. A nutritional supplement is a smarter way to go (IMHO).

I'm not a Dr but if you look at the link to this label I found on their web site it says it has 2000% of your daily value of Vitamin B6 & 8333% of Vitamin B12.
I sure wouldn't think that would be good for for long.

My guess is it is just the caffeine giving you some zip. It would be a lot cheaper to drink a 12-ounce diet Pepsi.

Rooster

It is not the caffeine. I use to drink pepsi or coke every meal and sometimes in between. Since using 5 Hour Energy, I have lost all cravings for soft drinks and sugar goodies.

Strange, but this is what is happening.

Could it be I am low on B vitamins?

I am also wonder if a lot of us who have sleep apnea also have other issues we do not know. CPAP is treating the sleep issue but other issue are there that must be treated in other ways.

Could be, but I would ask a good doctor. You can find many opinions that mega doses of vitamins are needed - opinions with no science behind them.
