Bi-Pap vs. Auto-Pap

Post by MinerMomx3 » Sat Dec 29, 2007 10:40 pm

I'm fairly new to this CPAP thing so I'm hoping some veterans can help me with a question. I have aerophagia horribly with CPAP. Some have recommended Bi-Pap; some have recommended auto-pap. I know this sounds simple - but what is the difference?

Simply put, the main difference is that a BiPAP or bi-level machine has two separate settings, one for inhale (IPAP) and one for exhale (EPAP).

Although the APAP can be set to a range, it is set to adjust to your inhale needs rather than the exhalation requirements. Aflex and other exhalation relief settings ease the change between inhalation and exhalation by reducing the pressure.

That is a simplified version, but I'm sure other posters can give a more in depth explanation.

Please share the pressure setting range for your APAP. Ed

Current BiPAP Pressure Settings: IPAP = 18, EPAP = 15

MinerMomx3, I've sent you a reply to the PM you sent me. But I don't think you've checked your Private Messages yet.

There's a button at upper right of this page that says, "You have ___ new messages." Click that button to read the PM I sent you.
