Encore Pro : missing data

Post by GreenIce » Sat Dec 29, 2007 6:52 pm

I quite lucky so far for more than five months, previously I have one night missing data. Just found out another night data missing (29/12). When I took out the card, I notice the card was not inserted fully into the APAP. However the APAP was not beeping or show signs of warning before. I think maybe the APAP detected the card but was not fully contact with card, so data not recorded.

From now on I will make sure the card is fully insert. Just thought, you guys might want to know.

Mine has lost 3 days, all on its own. Card was intact. Seems like that is a problem with these...

Mine has been acting up for the last week. Today I tried to reformat it using the utility from mycpap.com as suggested by Jerry (6Pt Star). I'll see how it works tonight.

Since it hasn't recorded a full night in over a week, don't figure I have much to lose.

The lights will only blink if you have a less than complete connection. If it is not in all the way it is the same as running it without the card. No warning. Generally the vacation they take is for 2 days and then it goes back to working on its own.

Yeah, and I was so proud of myself for using my CPAP for a good 7 hours last night. Then Murphy struck. Only compliance data. No detailed data. Grrr...

Doug.

GreenIce,
Yes... fully inserted does make it work better. Though, if you haven't had missing data regardless of whether or not you fully insert the data card, you are very fortunate. Most of us have encountered missing data despite what we do to ensure that everything is as it should be before starting a night of therapy.

Its a shame that Resperonics won't even admit this problem exists...

Well, reformatting got me a full night's worth of data last night, so it was definitely worth trying. For me.

This was the first time that the card failed repeatedly over a ten day period. Since I am still trying to find that sweet spot it is frustrating to have to put everything on hold while the machine tries to "find itself."

Yes, what's up with that? It's pretty apparent that this is a widespread issue--seems that ALL M series users have this problem. Maybe we should start a petition.

I seem to remember something about how the last time people started to complain about the Encore Pro Software, Respironics took it off the market.

M-Series - Lost Data & 7 day Leak Results

Post by Nelson » Sun Dec 30, 2007 6:06 pm

I've had the same lost data issue using Encore Pro 1.8i. I've avoided the issue by downloading data every day and setting Encore Pro to clear the card after reading the data. Since implementing this approach I've gone about 2 months with no missing data.

By clearing the data here is what I mean:
I remove the card every morning and save the data by using the MyCPAP Card Utility. Then I read the card using Encore Pro and have the Encore Pro preference set to clear the card after it is read. My final daily step is to review everything using Encore Pro Analyzer (thanks James).

Let's remember that there is also a problem involving the M-Series with the 7 day leak reporting that is shown on the LCD. This leak data problem does not involve the Encore Pro software, it is just an M-Series firmware problem. The solution to the LCD leak problem is to momentarily remove and re-attach the power cord before reviewing the leak data on the LCD. It will show correctly for the 7 day result.

The questions are:
Will Respironics issue a firmware update for the M-Series or would we have to return the machine
Would a firmware update fix both issues
How would end users get access to a firmware update since Respironics denies that we exist

Should we start a new thread dedicated to asking Respironics for a resolution of these issues?

Just download last night data, it is OK now. I hardly use MyCPAP utility to erase these days, usually backup only. I download data almost everyday, on the weekend I use Encore Pro to erase card.

I do not know fixing firmware will help, I think Respironic should design a completely new hardware. It's a shame they have the best APAP but the card issue is a let down. I doubt they will response to our requests or complains, in the past forum members have written to Respironic but there is no action taken.

Maybe once the new Respronics owners take over maybe we could try again to get their attention. Maybe they would like to protect their 5 Billion Dollar investment.

The software seems to be developed by the same people who make our masks.

The end users (us) are left to create workable fixes with baling wire, duct tape and pantyhose.

And cleaning our SmartCards, reinserting them, reformatting them, etc., etc., etc.
