new mask

Post by sleepyhead63 » Sun Dec 23, 2007 5:45 pm

I am due a new mask any suggestions? The only mask that seems to work for me is the mirage activa. So I guess something that is close to the activa but maybe smaller. I tried the ultra mirage but I did not like the way it fit. I would like to stay with the nasal masks because I tried a number of the full face and could never get a good seal. I also never liked the nasal pillows.
I am willing to experiment alittle since it is paid for with insurance and I have an activa that I can fall back on if the new one does not work out.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Heard good things about the Soyala nasal... though I don't have one. It's supposed to be really quiet.

Smaller and lightweight would indicate the possibility of the Simplicity simple nasal cushion by Respironics. Its one of their oldest masks but I've had my best luck w/it.

It comes w/a clip so you can easily run the hose above your head or not use the clip and let it swing freely. Can read and watch TV w/it on. Fits slightly down from the bridge of the nose rather than sitting on the bridge.

Runs about $75 at cpap.com if I remember correctly so one of the cheaper masks. You might wanna let insurance buy one of the more expensive masks to try.

The simplicity mask looked interesting so I used the online sizing guide and it said the mask is not recommended for me. The search continues...

Check out the Mask Roulette thread, if you aren't adverse to washing and sterilizing a used mask, and the cpapauction site for new or slightly used masks for self-pay purchases.

I've had about six or seven masks.... started out with the Activa and end then end went back to it.... I have yet to find ANYTHING as comfortable as the Activa.
