Resmed s8 Escape vs Elite

Post by ozarkcrone » Mon Dec 17, 2007 3:27 pm

I just started with an S8 Escape. It's been recommended on this site that I upgrade to an Elite. I pay 25% of whatever I get (we are retired, but not eligible for Medicare yet) I'd like to hear from some of you out there who are using the Escape successfully. I know I can't monitor with it. After 3 nights I don't seem to be having much trouble - a little tired today. My insurance will require another sleep study in a year. What should I do? How important is it that I upgrade? This is a lot of info and a little confusing so far, but thank goodness for this site!

S8 ELITE

Ozark: I don't know about the Escape, but I use Elite, and had my first follow up today.

I took my data card in to have it read. I was pleased to see that the monitor seemed to capture most everything that the software did, so I know there is no need for me to by the software. I do like the ability to read my numbers every day to make sure everything is "still in line".

Don't know much about the Escape, but my doc highly recommends the Elite. It also travels well due to its size and is quiet.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

I just got my Elite 3 weeks ago, and I am currently writing down all my numbers. These numbers will help tell my apnea/hypoapnea index and whether it is going up or down. It also tells whether I am leaking (hard to know when you are asleep). That way I can talk to my Dr. about my therapy and know what is happening with it. Only a data capable cpap can give you that information and the Escape only has compliance data. The Elite is data capable and would be worth the extra expense if you would like to know if the therapy is working. Good luck.

I strongly recommend that you get the Elite. The data you'll have via the Elite is vital to understanding how your therapy is working day to day, week to week, month to month.
