Dr Krakow

Can't believe I've been so dense about UARS and treating my SDB/OSA.

Since starting treatment I have focused on the AHI--flow limitation meant essentially "stuffy nose" to me who has had severe allergic rhinitis all my life. FLs had been rising and not sleeping as well. I blamed it on an assortment of other factors since my AHI remained low. The daytime fatigue finally got me to thinking I needed to tune up my treatment so I checked into the forum more often. Good timing as Dr Krakow had just posted his first message. After a few days of reading his posts I called Stanford for an appt figuring it would take 4-5 months to get one. Was trying to figure out how to get a BiPAP to try. That was Tuesday-it is now Friday and have had my appt and a BiPAP titration. Didn’t have to ask for a BiPAP Rx. I’m looking forward to reading the report. Thank you Dr Krakow. Best wishes with your abstracts and eventual presentations.

There are 2 questions for Dr Krakow. Having worked with Dr. Guilleminault; does he have a photographic memory? The Fellow did my interview and went out to get Dr C G. The Fellow was only gone 5 minutes. Dr C G. discussed my medical history, medications, my previous sleep studies and current complaint for 30-45 minutes without looking at the chart. And I shouldn’t forget the Fellow who I’m assuming had presented the salient points from my history in a concise accurate manner in the 5 minutes out in the hall.
The other question-can one obtain a digital record of their sleep study?

PS I had always thought of myself as being a medical snob by going to Stanford with such a “routine, straight forward case of OSA”. This appt erased that thought.

I think they have my name flagged to indicate they can call me if another patient has cancelled. If I'm trying to get an appt I call with my bags packed, gas tank full, and past 30 day Encore Pro/MyEncore printout. I can get there in 4.5 hours. But I still am amazed that this has happened every time I have called for an appt.
