I'm looking for a good pair of sleep goggles with specific characteristics:
1...I want them to form a good seal, to both block out light and keep my eye sockets warm from the cold air in the rest of the room, and, even more importantly,
2, they must be designed in such a way that no part of them touches my eyelids at all. I don't want the goggles to interfere physically in any way with my R.E.M.
Any recommendations?

The memory foam ones from Sharper Image work great for me.

Blocking oxygen from your eyballs for an extended period of time is a bad idea.
That said, try a diving mask of some sort. They make swim goggles that match your specs. If they don't block enough light for you, spray paint them black.
Cheers,
