red bumps now
well I think I have the full mask figure out, I still have to wear it tight on my face but I dont know what else to do , anyway after one day on the mask I got a huge red bump on the side of my nose, it looks like it could be a pimple and now I am up to 3 of these things, the other 2 are on the bridge of my nose, does anyone know what this is and how can I get rid of them
Red bumps on nose
If these are pressure sores, you will need to give them a break and time to heal. I had pressure sores on the side of the bridge of my nose and on the cheek, and they were infected. Seems that having to strap down a mask so tight to get it to work is not going to be your final answer. Some on here have talked about masks that work better when looser and they "float" on the face. Maybe those folks will chime in with something helpful. Sorry this is going so rough for you right now.

Hi, it looks like we have the same mask--quattro--right?
I loosened up the nose adjustment all the way to get it off the bridge. Then I put my mask on chin first then nose. When I did this the mask forehead part ended up really high on my forehead but my nose is getting better.
I have also ordered a nose bridge protection pad from Karen Moore at Pad A Cheek which will provide additional protection for the bridge of my nose. I used this with my last mask and all the red sores and bumps disappeared withinin days. I'm hopeful for this mask too.
You can reach Karen at http://www.padacheek.com or treeloftstudio@yahoo.com. They are inexpensive ($14 for 2 pads) and are washable and very soft. You might try looking up a post from Mindy where she shows pictures of the Padacheek pad and how she put it in her mask.
Good luck.

FLIGHTYONE, you are very likely extremely allergic to the chemicals that were used in the silicon rubber mask cushion. The problem is going to get worse fast. As masks age, they give off these chemicals. A old mask will give off very very small amounts. We have had excellent results using old but not worn masks on patients with an allergic reaction.
Don't consider a vinyl mask. They are worse yet. Contact a DME or online company and ask for a mask that has been out of the plastic for at least 4 months but in perfect condition. Just the cushion for your mask would probably be fine as well. I hope you find this helpful.

Try washing the mask with a gentle soap such as baby shampoo and a special view to remove all film from those areas that touch your face where the problem shows up. I had a "blister" top dead center of my nose bridge and tore the skin off with tape so be careful. A really careful cleaning if the mask cushion stopped the problem.
Good Luck,
