I have been buying all sorts of items on ebay and yahoo auctions for many years totalling perhaps 5000 auctions wins. I ALWAYS pay using Paypal and a credit card within Paypal. As long as you have no cash in your Paypal account, purchases will always be charged by Paypal to your credit card. If the transaction goes bad my first line of defense is Paypal. If that fails and it often does, I dispute the charge with my credit card company within 45 days of the transaction date. That works just about every time.If you do this, and avoid sellers with bad feedback, the risk reward ration is truly excellent on auction sites. Cpapauction.com is really no different in that respect.
IMHO, Doug offers the BEST approach to protecting your purchase(s) through the new CPAP auction site. (There is no protection offered like there is when buying on eBay and using PayPal to purchase.) Definitely check the feedback of a seller, if one has been established. I've had both good and bad purchase experiences, so you DO want to be cautious. I think we can get some wonderful deals through this site and truly appreciate that CPAP.com has made this all available to us. I've already sold a couple items and it's a lot better than having a closet full of unused xPAP stuff!

My credit card company, Mastercard advised that if I make a transaction using Paypal and it goes sour, I am on my own.
Check with your credit card company on what their policy is. People often assume they provide protection but I was told that Paypal is no different than using a debit card or making a cash advance with your credit card. It's not the same as disputing a transaction with a merchant. In the case of a dispute, you would be disputing with PayPal and they did nothing wrong. Caveat Emptor!

Looking back, I see I have used visa for transactions on Paypal. The visa user agreement allows the user to dispute any transaction that results in not getting the products purchased. I suspect that if you look at Mastercard's user agreement you will see the same language.
Paypal has said there is nothing that can be done to me in writing and verbally, They may do this because they are often left with the loss when their account holder commints this fraud. They then put that account on hold, but it is too late for them.

I called up Paypal and they verified that there is nothing that they can do. And even with Ebay, they can't guarantee that they will get you your money back.
As far as Visa and Mastercard, give them a call. Ask them specifically about Paypal. You'll be VERY surprised what they will tell you....hint, it's not what you are led to believe by the agreement.

Don't buy from sistercid.. Seller does not reply to emails. Item is not as described. May be buying items under aliases to improve rating. Buyer beware!!

johnnygoodman,
I have been a seller & buyer "Something that I think would be HELPFUL!"
If someplace on the site we had a list of what a item SOLD FOR in past Auctions ---- This would give the SELLER the option to SET minimum price he / she would like to make & as a buyer know what others would value / spend ?
The WATCH AREA doesn't let you know what the item you are interested in went for? and this might be the best place to incorporate the dBase of past sales.....
My thought is it would make it more a real "AUCTION" and not just LAST SECOND grab!
OKAY -- I'm an OLDFART that spent time in the seventy's campaigning for a "Fair World" & we see how that worked out............

Why can't cpapauction.com or this forum have a specific area for cpapauction members posting information about one another? The feedback by successful winners and sellers is the only way to provide feedback. I know Ebay has a forum that allows posting on all things ebay related.

I wanted to see if there were any Auto Bi Pap machines for sale. The menu showed three. When I followed the link the auction was for Parts, 2 DC cords for $198 , and a carry case. These items should be in the Machine Parts category. A waste of time.

I was wondering how other's experience with cpapauction have been. Within the past few weeks I have "won" 7 auctions on mask and machines. Out of the 7 auctions, 2 have been canceled after winning. on the 3rd auction I recieved a used machine instead of a never used. That machine is in the process of being replaced.
The other 4 auctions have been handled great with no problems.
I appreciate the site and hope others have better luck than I have.
Wes

I have found as a seller it is not as user friendly as eBay. I have had trouble sending invoices and contacting buyers as only the user name is given and you have to go through the auction to get information, etc. It has been a hassle of sorts. It is easier to list the items as you can pull much of the ad from cpap.com and that is great!! Just wish the checkout process was smoother and less complicated!!!!
As a buyer I have purchased some masks for really great prices on there. I have gotten my money's worth each time. I have only had one auction where I never received an invoice or contact from seller although I did send him several messages through the auction site to please send invoice so I could pay.
I think in time the site will improve as they are still in the learning curve.

I have purchased three items and have been extremely satisfied with all three.
I use Paypal;
I make sure the Seller has good feedback;
I carefully read the information about the items; and
all three items were shipped quickly and in perfect shape.
My husband absolutely HATES his Quattro (from the DME), so I bought a couple of different kinds of FF masks on Cpap Auction.. he is trying out this weekend.... they were affordable and if he cannot use them, I sure will!!!
I love my little "sleeping box!"

I've bought three items, and sold three other items--guess I've been lucky so far, buyers and sellers have worked out perfectly. I, too, use PayPal to pay (and to receive payments). Been great for getting new masks to try without having to pay high retail prices.
