Are other countries encountering lead in Chinese made products or just the USA?

I would believe that if they are testing for lead in various products made in China, they would be finding lead as we are....

This is the main part of the e-mail I got from another newsgropp
By now you must be wondering that all this has to do with Sleep Apnea and CPAP machines. Well believe it or not it has a great deal to do with it. It seems that recently CPAP machines and mask manufactured in China have started to show up on the market in the United States. Small, quiet and reasonably priced many people are buying them for travel or as a second CPAP. In many cases you are not even aware that the machine or mask is manufactured in China. We are as guilty of ignoring this fact as anyone has been. Until now we have carried a very popular small silent machine you can find on many other online sites. With all the recalls of Chinese made items recently you have to wonder if it is smart to use one of these machines or mask. Let’s face it; you are inhaling air distributed through this machine made in China, into six foot tubing made in China and possibly to a mask again made in China. You got to wonder if the paint in the CPAP’s housing contains a high level of lead.
I have to admit, it was attractive to sell these machines. We paid a little less for them than we did other machines allowing us to make a few extra bucks. Though the magic of marketing we convinced you that this machine was just what you needed. However, because of my experience with my motorcycle’s fender, which I don’t even ingest air from; I have had to reflect on this issue. We have decided that our reputation and your health are not worth the chance and have decided to remove these machines and mask from our website until we can be sure that they are 100% safe.
Many well known machines manufactured in places like the United States, Australia, New Zealand and France are just as small, just as reasonably priced and would let you sleep at night more soundly since you won’t have to worry about inhaling lead. An example would be the Puritan Bennett 420G CPAP. Manufactured in France, weighing only 1.5 pounds and with a history of reliability this machine has long been a favorite of those looking for a small machine. We don’t make as much profit on this machine as we do its Chinese counter part but it does not cost you any more. We sell the Puritan Bennett 420G for the exact same price as its Chinese units and many internet sites even sell it for less than they sell the Chinese manufactured units.
We have thought long and hard about this issue prior to taking this action and believe it is in your best interest for you to give it a thought before you purchase a Chinese manufactured CPAP or mask.

This thread relates to a news letter published today by a internet retailer whose name should not be mentioned here. He is saying in the news letter that cpaps and masks made in China should not be trusted. He is trying to scare people away from buying a certain brand that is new to the market. What he either does not know or does not want us to know is that most cpap machines and masks sold in the USA have chinese made components. This has been going on openly for many years. It is no secret, it is not dangerous.
Take a look at your IPOD. China made. Many of your car components. Same thing. Computer you are reading this on.. loaded with Chinese made parts.
Take a look at your cpap hose. 99.9% are made in China and have been for a decade.
Relax. Just someone trying to scare us. If anything really happens, I sure cpaptalkers will be the first to know.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. China has no regulations and a lot of toxic products are getting into this country besides food and toys. NPR just did a report earlier this week about the plastic products coming from China which contain phthalates, additives used to make plastics soft and pliable. The US and most other developed countries have banned the production of phthalates. However, the US trade laws have a loop hole that allow them in plastic proucts from China and sold to US consumers. The European Trade Union has banned the sale of all products with phthalates and any products found to contain them over there are promptly shipped to this country. Phthalates are known to inhibit sexual development in mammals and affect female reproductive system, besides being carcenogenic.
EDIT TO ADD: ... and you don't have to eat the plastic to respond to the effects of phthalates because they outgas very slowly in th the air (ie. they enter the body through the lungs).

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
lead?
It is my understanding that you would have to chew on the parts to ingest lead, which certainly does in fact pose a real threat to a child playing with a toy,but perhaps not in normal adult use. Regards

China
This really got me thinking. Maybe components from China are in other units but where are they assemblied and the housing manufactured. I have never seen the Chinese voluntarily recalled products before. I think they would be the last to tell us if there was a problem. I bet Respironics has EPA data on there units. Do others?
I do know that I am sleeping with my Remstar tonight.

Lead in CPAP machines
This seems disturbing. Is there any way of finding out where the parts for the US models come from for what machines?
I learnt that Fisher & Paykel is a New Zealand manufacturer but unsure of how to go about finding whether any parts are made in China
Thanks
