Love my ResMed I started out with the Compact then went to the Elite for the epr mode and it was great. Im on the Vantage now (the ResMed APAP.) I love Resmed Products and have had flawless performance with them many extras and patient options. Nice quality, durable and easy to use. ANy name brand CPAP generally will be just fine in quality its like comparing a Chevy to a Ford. You can ask one fan about the other and they will pick it apart. Personally I have no experieince with Respironics but both companies have excellent histories and you will be well off with either or. AS far as which machine to get by them that will depend on your personal needs and wants. EPR & CFlex options and full data both are options that may or may not be of important to you but both companies have machines for both options. GL

Yup. Truly I am. The AutoScan and ResScan software are the only software I've ever been able to install and have run right on the first try. Ooops. I take that back. The SPO 7500 software I was able to install and use on first try also. That's it. And I've had a 'puter since an old Compaq portable (about the size and shape of a portable sewing machine) back about 1986.

I fought going from DOS to Windows until Win3. And fought going to Win95, fought going to Win98 and fought going to WinXP. Didn't upgrade to any of them until too many URLs wouldn't work w/whatever current Win version I had.

I HATE LEARNING NEW SOFTWARE! AND I HATE ICONS INSTEAD OF WORDS. Matter of fact, I STILL use WordPerfect 5.1 as my word processor. My FamilyTreeMaker genealogy software is so old it has mold on it plus I still don't know how to use all its features. And I REALLY HATE software manuals!! They are clear as mud! Back in the days of WP 5.1 you could buy an EXCELLENT secondary manual by Que or Sybex that were THOROUGH and easy to understand. Those manual for Idiots and Dummies were impossibly stupid and difficult. (No sense of humor on my part, I guess).

Heck, I have a Visioneer scanner that is supposed to be so easy and just push button easy and darned if I can scan something and post it to photobucket or anyplace. Ask poor Dave. He tried and tried to help me scan and send him some of my AutoScan screens. Ha! The poor guy not only gave up I think he's bald now from tearing his hair out!! I've read and read the threads here on how to post them and get lost. I had to have someone else find and add my avatar!

I believe a weekly soak in vinegar is supposed to protect you from that....

Good 'un, Ozij. FTM is still working well so why bother? I'm the lazy type. Besides, its got so many "moving parts" I'd probably never get it back together right. If it ain't broke I don't hire someone to fix it.

Hey, Slinky.

I STILL have my old Compaq portable (Dec. 1985).....and most of the relics that I used since then.....quite a few museum pieces, but they DO tend to take up space. I have several (different makes and models) from the PC/XT era.
At least the Compaq was a hard drive version and not the 2-floppy one.

Wulfman!!!! And I thought "I" was a pat rack. Tho I confess I did hold on to that Compaq portable a long time trying to find a new power supply thingie for it.

And, boy, am I with you wishing I had some of that money back! That's one of things that irks me most about 'puters. Spend a bundle today and 6 months from now its not worth half of what you paid for it!

I learned my lesson w/the Compaq tho. NEVER buy a brand name 'puter that requires proprietary parts!!! And I haven't since - except for a Toshiba laptop. But there's not much option in that regard w/laptops. *sigh*

Boy, I can relate to that! I fought the same futile fight every time, too...for as long as I could. Clinging to the old so long did let us avoid the misbegotten Windows ME, though, didn't it! LOL

XP's on one computer, and the 'puter I'm using right now is happily running Win2K Pro. We know how long it's been since the year 2000.

ozij, I loved your tongue-in-cheek vinegar comment.
Been following that thread, too...

Mine's long gone, but I still have the nice IATA regulation size leather carry bag it came in and my CPAP machines have, on occasions, travelled inside that bag.

Cheers,

Bill

I still have my leather Compaq carry bag.....somewhere.....
Hmmmm.....that thing's big enough to pack ALL of my PAP machines and accessories in.....and probably a couple of gallons of water and a laptop and........ (well, you get the idea)

And, I still have the Hayes 1200 baud modem (internal) that I bought for that Compaq Portable, too. That sucker is huge.

POUT! I didn't get a carrying case w/my Compaq portable! Just grab the handle and go. Oh well, its a little late to trip over my lower lip about it now.

As an aside, I have to admit to some perverse please when I read in some business news today that businesses are NOT jumping on the Vista bandwagon and Microsoft has had to delay some of its plans about phasing out support, etc. for WinXP.
