Aussie hose: more than for rainout

Post by mindy » Sun Nov 18, 2007 9:08 am

Hi,

Since I've been on the forum I've heard about using the Aussie heated hose for rainout only. Now that could be because I wasn't on the forum last winter.

Last night I had trouble sleeping because the air coming into my nose was darn cold and uncomfortable (I keep temp at night at 60 deg. F) but I didn't have rainout. So I had a lightbulb moment and hauled out the Aussie hose I had ordered to have on hand for winter. Literally within moments the air was just right instead of too cold. I had been so focused on the use for rainout that it took me awhile to figure this out

For those who don't have the Aussie heated hose, if you live in a cold climate and like cold bedroom (or are trying to save on heating costs), it works really well.

The only problem I had with the order was that it came postage due (around $16) which was a shock!

Mindy

That the hose will provide warmer air is good to know--I hadn't thought of that, am just trying to fix my rainout issue (I've ordered my aussie hose, awaiting receipt). That $16 postage due is a concern, though! When I ordered mine, their website stated that the price includes shipping to the USA. Are in you the USA?

Thanks!

Ted

Yes, I'm in the USA. It could have been a US postal service problem - I couldn't tell from the package. I contacted the supplier and they said it shouldn't have come postage due and they would look into it. Never heard back and decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

The other little "surprise" I had was that my credit card company charged me $8.95 for a "foreign transaction fee".

So, I wish someone in the US would become a supplier for these wonderful hoses!

Boy! That's an additional 16.00 + an additional 8.95! We're talking $25 here. If I have that issue, I'll let everyone know. Indeed, then, a US supplier would be helpful.

Thanks, Mindy!

Ted,

I hope you don't have that problem! I honestly don't think it was the supplier's fault .... there were a number of links in that chain and in my prior contacts with them they were always very prompt and helpful. It could be the post office in my rural area that messed up. I did ask them to double check and they swore it was postage due.

I had another order from a different company "down under" and was also charged the $8.95 foreign transaction fee

I got mine a month or wo ago and no postage due. My bank did charge a transaction fee - I don't think it was that much but I honestly don't remember.

Enjoy your hose.

Heated Hose

Post by SleepyNoMore » Sun Nov 18, 2007 9:49 pm

I recieved my heated hose a few days ago, I think it was friday and the post office just left it in my mailbox! When I opened it, there was a slip that said postage due but the postman didn't ring my bell and ask for anything! I also haven't been charged yet but recieved an invoice in the package like they we're doing the tranaction manually, it dropped off my card as a pending charge as the credit card company said a pending charge will on be allowed to sit there as pending for 4 or 5 days so now i'm just waiting to see when it will actually get charged to my account, that seems strange... I have used my new hose for 2 nights and I absoutley LOVE IT! It truly makes the cold air warm and i've switched my HH setting to 2, I have always had to set it on a COLD 1, now I stay warmer and don't have as much cold pain in my nose. I wish I would of ordered this hose 3 months ago when I first started cpap therapy, it makes the therapy way easier to tolerate!!! BTW/ I have not had one drop of rainout in the past 2 nights I have used the new HHose, even on setting 2 on the HH! And my total with the P&H was $148.92. Goodluck

Don't know if any money is saved, but there is an online supplier in the U.S. that carries the Sleepzone heated hose:

http://www.cpapusa.com/item.php?productcode=SZ4IA-AU
ResMed S9 VPAP Auto (ASV)
Humidifier: Integrated + Climate Control hose
Mask: Aeiomed Headrest (deconstructed, with homemade straps

I just ordered one from Oz, and when I looked in my banking activity this morning the $139.00 hose was in there, but the charge was $143.14. Looks like they are adding the cost of the credit / debit card to the total.

I also sent them an e-mail about the $16 that another member was charged, but like that member, I've heard nothing from them.

It could be the wrong time of day for them. I wouldn't be surprised if they checked and found that they had paid and forgot to notify me. They were otherwise very helpful.
