Best mask for tummy sleepers?
Best mask for tummy sleepers?
Just wondering what mask is liked the best for tummy sleepers.
In a full face mask I don't think it exists. If you don't leak out the mouth the Nasal Aire II is hard to beat.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting: "Wow what a ride!"

Well, I personally think the best mask by far and away for sleeping on one's stomach (or in any position) is the Aeiomed "Headrest" mask. That mask has had several names -- it's also been named "Aura" and "Twilight NP." Headrest is its current name (again.. ..it also had that name at one time in the past.)
However, I saw your other topic (click here) in which you said you don't want to use a nasal pillows type of mask. The "Headrest" is a nasal pillows mask.
I wouldn't judge all "pillows" masks by your experience with one. Every manufacturer's nasal pillows mask is quite different. Besides, your experience with nasal pillows was with a Full Face nasal pillows mask -- the Liberty. It can be more difficult to keep nasal pillows fitting comfortably and sealing well when they are part of a FF mask. Any movement of the mouth or jaw can shifting the mouth cushion can also tug at the position of the nasal pillows slightly. It's not like wearing "just" a nasal pillows interface.
In your other thread you were thinking about trying a non-FF mask, and hoping you don't mouth breathe. If it turns out that you do mouth breathe in your sleep, you might want to check out the many discussions about ways to prevent that. Link to those discussions is below.
For years I taped my mouth so I could wear non-FF masks that were much more comfortable for me. I can use just a chin strap now, but it took a long, long time for my tongue to form a habit of staying in a position during the relaxation of sleep that allowed the tongue to maintain a leak proof seal inside the mouth.
No chin strap was enough for me before...it is now. If it weren't, I'd go right back to tape without any hesitation. It's worth it to me to be able to use my favorite nasal pillows mask -- the "Headrest."
