what exactly is not working?

Did the software install and can you open the program?

Or is it some other problem?

There are customer service numbers for assistance with the EncoreViewer software:

1.800.345.6443 or 724.387.4000

Did you have the Encore Viewer open when you connected the SmartCard reader?

Encore Viewer needs to be open when you connect your card reader because it installs its own drivers.

I just received Encore Viewer 1.0.0.003 and the USB SmartCard reader direct from cpap.com. It works fine reading the SmartCard from my old REMStar PRo 2 with C-Flex machine but not the SmartCards my new REMStar Auto AFlex M Series machine. I keep getting the popup "The SmartCard DOES NOT contain any therapy data". I tried a couple of different SmartCards and keep getting the same error. I don't think my provider deleted the data from my card when she read the data and printed out the report and handed the card back to me. I called the Encore Viewer support number and had to leave a message for them call back and I am still waiting

Unless you set Encore Pro up not to delete it does it automatic. The first time I had my card they deleted the card. If your card is empty you might go to mycpap.org and use the utility to reformat the card.

But my provider also printed the reports from my old machine and that card still has data that Encore Viewer can load.

I installed mycpap to dump the M Series cards to my PC, but in looking at the binary image using CodeWright I can not tell if the cards have therapy data although I see my name in the binary data.

I am not using my new machine at the moment but left a card in it over 24 hours and I still can not read any data from it. So how do I know for sure that the M Series really has placed data on the card?

I'll bet the card did have the data deleted when your provider did the download. Not because she deliberately deleted it, but simply because the automatic default action of Encore Pro (which is what providers would be using) DOES erase the data from the card with each download.

There is a setting in Encore Pro that can be changed so that the card doesn't get erased when downloaded, but I doubt if many providers even know about that setting. They'd usually have no reason to change it.

I'll also bet that if you put that "empty" card in your machine before you use the machine tonight, new data will be recorded. Just putting the card in a machine and not actually using the machine isn't going to put data on it.

When you use the machine again (with the Smart Card in it) and do your own downloads at home, you should be able to see the new data from here on. You just won't ever see the old data again that was there before the provider did her Encore Pro download. Well, you'll see it on the printouts she gave you, and if you were in front of her computer, she could open up the file she had downloaded and you could see it again there. It just isn't on the card anymore.

EncoreViewer, on the other hand, does not erase the card when it's downloaded. Your data will stay on it, as long as you don't take the card back to the provider for an Encore Pro download again.

OK, I will try the new machine tonight to see if any data shows up on the card. I was sticking with the old machine at straight 8 cm CFlex because I was getting better results with the old machine than the new machine at 4-20 AFlex. I think the higher pressure was triggering central apnea. The new machine was reprogrammed for 4-12 at my request, but I have put off using the new machine to keep gathering more data at straight 8 cm on the old machine.

Thanks to this forum I discovered where to get the information to reprogram the new machine. This gives me the option of setting the new machine to straight 8 cm CFlex or 4-12 AFlex.

Well I got one day of data off the card from the new machine I used last night.

Maybe my provider did delete the old data from the card for the new machine while not deleting the old data from card for the old machine. Why one and not the other? Carelessness or something else?

What puzzles me more is that the new machine reports 20 days of usage but only one day got saved to the card. Is the machine only saving one day per day? If so, then that means if the card is not in the machine every day then I will not be able to retrieve all the data for the days the machine did not have the card inserted.

From a software developer viewpoint (hence sw-person), I would think the machine would dump all its data every day to the card. Or did resetting the pressure from 4-20 to 4-12 clear the prior set of data? Maybe the machine dumps a whole week once a week and/or a whole month once a month? Does anyone already know?

As far as 4-12 AFlex vs 8 CFlex, my AHI went up last night. I will collect a full week of data at 4-12 AFlex and then set the new machine to 8 CFlex for comparison to the old machine at 8 CFlex. Right now I suspect having the min at 4 cm might not be good for me.
