Respironics M-Series A-Flex unit

Post by Dgrendahl » Mon Oct 15, 2007 6:27 pm

Just out of curiosity, how many own this machine and what do you think about it? Or, have you talked to someone who owns one and their reactions to it? Is it considered a good machine or what?

I've owned the non-CFlex Classic (several of them in fact),
the Classic with CFlex,
and the new AFlex, therapy wise it is probably the best I've used so far for comfort and therapy.

The AFlex is the easiest to breathe against using a higher Minimum pressure. I also find it to be quieter than the prior models.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

I have one, and really like it. I had the Pro2 with CFlex before, but the AFlex is more comfortable and provides good therapy for me. This is one of the things I would fight for if someone tried to take it. The only problem I have found with it is an annoying little whine at the end of an exhale.

yes- it is better than the tank [classic auto] in my opinion

it is much easier to breath against- also quieter
drawback is blue lights-- easy fix is a sock!

I am in favor of it enough to lobby doc to give to everyone
instead of cheap one to start- again my opinion- trying to be
cheap is part of the huge non compliance problem. packer

I started w/classic Remstar Plus w/C-Flex (17cm). After a couple months the lab asked me how I felt. Well, I didn't notice any difference & told em that. They ordered me a loaner which turned out to be an auto M series w/o humidifier. I have no idea what it was set to - this was before I found this place.

The DME just mailed it to me in a box, no instructions, No Manual, NO clues when/how to return it, NOTHING. After 3 days, I felt alot better and fell in love with "my" machine.

One day, out of the blue (after maybe 90 days), the DME leaves a message on my answering machine, "I am on my way to pick up 'our' loaner."

Really?

I left the house.

Any questions?

ps. I am scheduled to get another auto M this Fri.

Some thoughts...

Post by Guest » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:59 pm

Well, it is sounding like those who have it or have tried it love it! That is good because earlier this evening that is the one I purchased from cpap.com. I wouldn't want to have made a mistake.

It is a good APAP (AFlex), I don't think you make a mistake. In case you don't like Aflex, you have options to set it C-Flex or straight CPAP. There is no such options on other brands.

I have tried other APAPs during CPAP trial (loaner units), with Aflex breathing is much easier.

I've been using one for 4 nights now. I like it much better than the resmed that was used in my titration test. The A-flex is *so* nice.

Like everyone else says, the blue lights are WAY too bright. I can't imagine what the designer was thinking. I just lay a paperback book across the top.

I don't think you'll be dissappointed!!!

I LOVE my A-Flex! So much easier to breathe with than the other 2 I've tried.

As for the blue lights.....I now use an "end table" for my night stand, that has a shelf underneath where my Auto sits, and this has completely cut out that annoying neon light up the room feeling!

Good sleeping!

By the way it reads here, I have nothing to fear. I'll post a reply on how it works for me once I take delivery.

Dgrendhal, your moronic and grossly-disgustingly liberal "avatar" of George Bush morphing with Adolf Hitler makes me sick and tells a clear picture about what kind of person you are.

LOL! hmmmmm, lets see. I have a PC glowing blue right now. My PAP2 had blue lights on it. The PAP2 can light up the whole room on it's own. To add to the light are 1 dsl and 1 cable modem. I placed all of these device in the corner of the room opposite to where I sleep. BTW, The glowing PC is going be glow more... Blue cpu fan, psu is going to have a glowing blue fan and the inside all of the cables in including the external usb cable will have blue on them. Call me crazy..... I can show off my blue BEAST!

Admiralross...

Are you running a Disco out of there?

(Maybe you should get one of those mirrored hanging "Disco" balls, now THAT would be something!)

I didn't look closely and thought it was Adolph. Looked again. FUNNY!!!!

I have the Remstar M Series and I don't mind the blue lights at all, but mine is on the floor. When it was on the side table I could hear myself exhale. Mine is super quiet (it's the first and only one I have). No complaints here on the machine.......now the mask, that's another story.
