stevereno,

i had my deviated septum repaired in april and it was the best thing i ever did (beside have my children of course!)...the surgery is called septoplasty and it's fairly easy to recover; you can google it or search the forum...there are quite a few discussions on the boards about it, but if you have any questions i would certainly be happy to answer them, as would many of the other folks on here who have had the surgery

I hooked up the humidifier and I guess it works fine. I used the mask last night and actually had it on until around 4am, when I woke and took it off as it was still a little snug. The humidifier seems to work fine, as I had no issues with dry mouth or anything. Also, someone in an earlier note said that the noise goes down as you use it during the night and I did seem to notice that it was not that noticeable....
I'm so pleased to hear that Cancun9.

Keep us informed how it's going, even if it seems uneventful... It is good to have support, and we are interested in how you are going, as we have all been through it!

You say the mask is snug. Does it leave red marks/sores?

Thanks. On the question of the mask, it does leave a big oval mark on my forehead where the forehead pad is, and there is some marking on my chin as well. In my sleep I tend to turn on my side, and I think that puts pressure on the mask or something, as I have woken up to a little discomfort with it. Also, I am not sure this is the mask for me. The release holes for the air are small and so you can hear the air escape all the time. I think it may be louder than other masks, but since this is my first, I may be wrong.

OK.

The vent holes in the mask are to allow the CO2 to wash out, otherwise you would be rebreathing it and getting too much CO2. The amount of noise they make vary from mask to mask.

I think it would be a good idea to start a thread specifically about your particular mask. That will draw the attention of those people with experience of your mask.

There are a lot of mask specifics "fixes" which people here share.

Thanks for replying. Keep posting here as well as any other threads you start!

regards

Di
