ResMed S8 Elite Smart Card Questions

Hello,

I'm a new CPAP user w/a ResMed S8 Elite machine. I know it's possible to purchase the ResMed ResScan software ot view a number of things regarding my treatment efficacy. That said ....

I earn my living as a software developer and got to thinking it might be possible to pull data off the card and look at it any way I wanted. This leads to the following questions:

Does anyone know how the data is stored on the card? I've heard "campfire stories" indicating that it's an MS SQL database.
How "smart" is the smart card? Is it simply flash memory that Windows sees as a USB mass storage device?
Has anyone else poked around with the data so far and found anything they'd care to share with me?

Lastly, and most importantly, am I violating any laws or any unwritten rules of this forum by asking these kinds of questions? I'm not looking at a commercial venture - I simply want access to my own personal healthcare data - which some people seem to go way out of their way to keep me away from.

From the files my card reader has downloaded, It appears that they are XML files. I haven't tried to see the card without the software, It does not see the card as a usb storage device.
