Netipot, Netipot you're the one!

Post by Flying_Norseman » Wed Sep 26, 2007 7:02 am

Thanks to info from this site I purchased a Netipot the other day and all I can say is wow! It is so great! I have had a stuffy nose for as long as I can remember but using the Netipot clears up my sinuses wonderfully. I can't believe such a simple solution was out there.

Simply Saline

Post by Dgrendahl » Wed Sep 26, 2007 8:08 am

I agree with you. My doctor told me to purchase a product called, "Simply Saline" and squirt that up my nose often. I can carry them with me wherever i go. For the home, I think I will look into the pot. Thanks!

Where do you get a netipot?

A health food store or place like that usually carries them.

You can get the netipot at any pharmacy, If they do not have it they can order it for you. Ever since I tried it, it is my main goto in the event of a stuffy nose, a must during peak allergy season.

I like the NeilMed system. I tried the Netipot and it worked OK, you can also use a rubber bulb (looks like an ear wash bulb but has a shorter larger snoot). NeilMed uses a bottom feeding squeeze bottle. Can also get the salt/soda packets pre mixed. I get a bit more control over the pressure with the NeilMed system. My ENT doc put me on it. Sure does help.

I started using a nasal rinse this weekend... It works fairly well but bah makes me feel like I'm throwing up something through my nose... It is so nasty. We looked all over town for the NeilMed since that's what I kept seeing mentioned on the site. Walmart here doesn't carry any nasal rinse their pharmacists sent us looking else where. And the only one we could find was Ayr Saline Nasal Rinse Kit at Fred Myers, for others back east Fred Myers is now owned by Krogers so I'm assuming same type of store since we didn't have any Krogers stores here before they Bought out Fred Myers and Fredys hasn't changed much except now carries Krogers store brands. Seems to be about the same as the NeilMed even the bottom feeding squeeze bottle except the premixed packets and the bottle make 6 oz. instead of 8.

I bought my neti pot here:
http://www.healthandyoga.com/html/product/neti.html

I like it because it's big, easy to hold onto, and most importantly, unbreakable! I'm a klutz, so that was a big thing. I use Morton canning&pickling salt for rinsing, it's pure salt with no additives. Works great and it's really cheap. If you want to, you can add baking soda to the mix but it's not required. I use 1/2 teaspoon salt per cup of warm water. As the above poster said, it's indespensible during peak allergy season.

Neti pot $2.00 off coupon.

Post by Tn_Hosehead » Thu Sep 27, 2007 2:00 pm

Anyone thinking of trying a neti pot, go to http://www.sinucleanse.com and you can print a coupon for $2 off. I found this neti pot at CVS. It was a god send, I cannot tell you how much it has helped clear out my nasal passages before using my cpap.

Just wanted to pass this info on for anyone who is considering trying one of these.

For those of you who like more power, Here is a powered nasal irragation system, Alittle overkill if you ask me. http://www.alerg.com/page/A/PROD/SST/SS ... rXgHMKaN9d Insurance may even pay.

A product my allergist recommended works very well for me. It's called Alkalol and is sold in many pharmacies. It's OTC. It's a nasal rinse and mucus solvent that is applied using a nasal douche (which is somewhat like a netipot, I think).
