Encore Pro software missing data - my email to Respironics

Post by Guest » Sun Sep 09, 2007 10:40 am

After experiencing my third night of missing “Sleep Therapy Daily Details” pages over multiple weeks, I sent Respironics the following email. While it may get little reaction from them, it will be for a long time found on the web for others to read.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings,

This communication regards a data reporting problem with the Auto-M A-Flex DS510 REMstar, mated with Encore Pro 1.8.49 software.

I am a patient / user of the M-series Auto A-Flex and Encore Pro software. After recently switching to an Auto-M A-Flex DS510 REMstar, I am receiving the first obviously beneficial SDB therapy I have had in over five years of treatment.

I chose to use the Encore Pro software due to learning from disturbing experiences that unless I am intimately proactive in my daily therapy I will not receive what I need when I need it. Medical professionals that I have been exposed to, generally, have proven time and again to be far too slow, inattentive and less than fully knowledgeable and sufficiently forthright about OSA and my particular case.

The data reporting problem:
For unknown reason(s) “Sleep Therapy Daily Details” pages for one or more days will be absent from an Encore Pro patient report. Yet, the “Summary of Compliance – All Data” page displays cumulative data that includes the absent “Sleep Therapy Daily Details” days, and tallies appear to be correct.

The “Sleep Therapy Daily Details” pages are vital to my successful therapy. If one or more of those report pages are absent I have no way to correlate events during sleep to feeling worse, or somewhat better, on any particular day. There is no data displayed with which I can relate those experienced results to.

After speaking with respiratory therapists, several doctors and numerous other patients who use the Encore Pro software paired with M-series flow generators, I have discovered that the missing data problem is very common and sporadically persistent.

I find it disturbing that a seemingly excellent product and software match would have such a glaring inconsistency in presenting complete and accurate patient data.

In conclusion:
My health and longevity are dependent upon using a flow generator for the rest of my life. I chose to purchase a Respironics product due to machine features, reputation and proven reliability. Now I wonder if I should have chosen a competitive brand and model.

Please advise me if the problems will be remedied and in what timeframe.

Sincerely,

[Nodzy McNodder]

Encore Pro only displaying last 7 sessions in detail

I only get the last seven sessions (normally days unless I take a nap) in the daily details sleep therapy charts.
Is this normal? Can it be set to display all recorded days in detail?

Yes.

No.

The most recent 5 - 7 days worth of detailed data is all that either Respironics or resmed's software displays, as far as I know.

The Silverlining software for Puritan Bennett machines displays more days of recent detailed data... 96 hours worth... which is almost two weeks for most people getting 8 hours of sleep a night. I always liked the SL software best of all. Wish PB made an autopap with exhale relief.

I stated using my Encore Pro V1.8i.65 on 8-22-07 and I have all of that info dloaded in the Encore program so, "YES" I have 1 month & 1 day on the program and ir shows it all, there are like 18 pages or so. I think the smart card holds 30 days worth & stores it in the program when you download it. It gives you the option to either look at the full report and/or the details and it also gives you the option to look at 1 day or for all days for instance 8-22-07 to 9-23-07.. You more than likely know all of this but mine lets me store the whole month, if that's what you we're talking about... Goodluck!

The cards hold seven sessions of detailed data and 60 months of stats.

I have noticed (not sure if it is a trend yet since it has only happened twice) that if I nap durring the day, the next morning on d/l it doesn't contain the night data, just the nap data. Not sure what that's all about.

I had suspected something was wrong with the nap idea the first time the data went missing. I am contemplating ordering a second smart card for naps.
