Newbie mask question

Post by Schnertling » Mon Sep 17, 2007 2:00 pm

Is it a good idea to have more than one type of mask? I was thinking of a primary nasal-type but also getting a full face for times of stuffy nose or cold? Or am I just thinking about this WAY to much?

Thanks

Depends.....

I started off from the very beginning with the ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face (UMFF) and that's basically all I've used for the last 2 1/2 years. I've tried a couple of other full face masks (Comfortfull 2 and the Quattro), but my first one is the one that's worked the best for me.

Other folks go through many, many masks before they find the right one. Give it LOTS of thought about what you think would work best for you (including getting the right size) before plunking your money down.

I agree with Den. BUT... if you decide on a nasal only mask, I think you should have a full face mask also for times of congestion.

I've got a full face for when I have a stuffy nose or just want a break from air blowing up my nose. I'm glad I've got it, though i don't use it often, I appreciate it when I do.

I've only been doing this for 2 months myself and I now have 3 masks. I have a Mirage Swift II nasal pillow type, a Comfort Select nasal mask, and a Comfort Full FF mask for when I get a cold or whatever. You're not thinking about it too much. Right now it's consuming you because it's a BIG change in your life and it affects your life in a huge way.

If you wear a medium I still have a Comfort Classic nasal mask available for sale or trade...gently used, no smoking in the house. I'm willing to trade for just about anything else at this point.

I think definately YES, I have 2 swoft 11 masks but really need a full face like all the hoseheads say, it's good for when you have colds/flu/sinus infections but, I don't want to pay for one without trying one first, also I think I might freak out... Goodluck!

Another newbie here...1 month today! I also was worried about colds, stuffy nose etc so I asked my DME person for a FF mask. He said I wouldn't like it because my stomach would fill up with air. He said I'd have to get my provider to order something to decongest my nose. Then he gave me the bravo nasal pillows to try.

I'd like to try a FF mask if I could find a good one.

I use the full face mask made by F & P 431c and it is so comfortable. I haven't had any problems with stomach gas and I know I will keep this mask probably as my primary -- but would like to try one that just covers the nose.
