After only four nights on CPAP, my systolic pressure has dropped from the 130-140 range to 110. The diastolic pressure has dropped from the high 70s to 57!
Wonder how soon I will be able to stop taking the Adalat that I have been on for the last five years...

That's great news!
One of the problems with untreated OSA is that it can lead to high blood pressure. I'm glad that using your xPAP therapy has helped improve your health this way. Maybe it will encourage those who are struggling with their treatment to stick it out, and those who are putting off getting treatment to seek it.
As for whether or not you could stop using your blood pressure medication, you'd probably want to ask your doctor about it. But I've heard of people being able to stop various medications once their major, underlying health problem (OSA) was under control.
Good luck!

Susan,
Fantastic! It appears that your body wasn't too damaged before you started therapy. For some people the BP drop occurs much slower. You got results which can surely help to prolong your life, and make living more pleasant. I'm impressed.
And... what Amanda said.... ask your doctor... before dropping the medications.

Keep an eye on this for a while and see what your doctor advises.
My BP came down quite a bit once treatment was successful (with the right mask, pressure, etc.)
However, after a while, BP seemed to creep back up a bit.
Now it seems the lowering effect has leveled off somewhat, and my pressure is not as low as initial cpap therapy. It is pretty darn good, but it seems unlikely that my doc would recommend cessation of BP meds.
Hope it works out for you!
