Sleep data finally

Post by lilsheba » Tue Aug 28, 2007 9:43 am

Well I saw the DME after 45 days of usage. She noticed the pad a cheeks I had on my head gear for the Mirage Swift II and asked about them. She ended up making photocopies of the brochure I got when I ordered them, so that person may get a little more business. The DME just thought it was the greatest thing, hadn't seen them before.

Well I found out my average AHI is 1.7, oxygen levels are still low though. The Swift II has had mask leak issues. I can never get the pillows to stay put. I've got a comfort classic small size coming today, if that works well for me I will have a comfort classic medium for trade

Oh and someday soon I will have my reader, I got it from the australian site and it's being shipped from Hong Kong I think. And I will be able to track this same exact info myself whenever I want.

So glad your AHI is so low - yeah!

I have a hard time understanding how your AHI can be so low and still you are not getting enough oxygen. What method was used to determine your oxygen levels?

I'm not sure this came off the smart card. Basically I understand it to be that I'm breathing more but still not getting as much as oxygen as I should with each breath maybe?

I think you should ask your RT how they determined your oxygen levels are still low.

To my knowledge, the SmartCard and your machine do not report oxygen levels. You would have to use a pulse oximeter, for example, to determine level of oxygen.

Most likely you had a pulse oximeter on your finger during your sleep study and titration. If they are using that information, then it may or may not be relevant to what your current oxygen levels are when using your equipment at home.

Did the RT put you on a machine with a mask and use a pulse oximeter?

At this visit yesterday no they didn't. So I'm not sure how they got that info now. I'm still learning how to read the graphs, and will do a big part of figuring that out when I have the reader myself. I'm supposed to see them again in a month, if they bring it up at that point I will find out what the method is.

Thanks for your help though.

Be on the lookout for blowing smoke, no way does the smartcard have O2 data on it. Sounds like a DME fry cook, wanting to sound smarter than they are. Jim
