I have found the phpBB spelling checker, to be the poorest, I have ever seen. I use ieSpell on most forums, but it will not work on this phpBB board.
I know my spelling hasn't improved, but since the server upgrade, the spell checker hasn't found one mis-spelled word yet. Most of the time I hit send before I think to spellcheck, and have to go back and edit, then the edit gets kicked out because you can't repost that fast. So you get to re-edit and sit on your hands for a minute while the server gets that extra cup of coffee.
Goofproof, impatientally waiting for the new software, may it not have anything to do with phpBB...
And to CPAP.COM, still thanks for your Forum and all the effort you put into it. Jim

I also use Google's toolbar spell checker with Firefox, but I use Safari most of the time and it has a built-in spell checker that also works.
the phBB spell checker has always been so slow that you can run upstairs, answer the phone find the dictionary and look it up and still beat it.
