Going through Buffalo and Washington (reagan) both places took the cpap out and swabbed it. No problems, no real delay to note. I did ask them to change to fresh gloves. Absolutely not a problem. I simply said, "Fresh gloves please?" and they were almost apologetic and changed their gloves immediately.
Airport travel so far has simply not been a problem.

Just got back from a vacation to Alaska. I had a mixed bag experience. Dulles to Seattle, no problem at all, they just asked me to take it out of the bag for scanning. Seattle to Juneau, same thing. Juneau to Seattle, they had to take it and examine it and swab it. Seattle to Dulles, just out of the bag. I thought it was interesting that Juneau was the only airport to really examine it other than the x-ray. I guess they have to protect that huge airport with the 7 gates.
Just a side note, I forgot something that was in my pocket on the Seattle to Juneau flight, and I set off the metal detector 2 times. So I got wanded for the first time. Interesting experience, I was actually amused. They asked me if I had any metal in my body, I almost forgot about the pin in my knee. I remembered it just before it set off the wand. I wonder what the next step would have been if I had forgotten about it, perhaps they would have put my knee through the x-ray.

Remove CPAP from bag.
I am a frequent traveler with my CPAP (China, Japan, Europe this year) and for the first time I saw a sign on the x-ray machine that said to remove laptops and cpap machines from their bags and place them in a basket for x-ray. It was in SNA airport.
They did the same swab test they are supposed to do in all USA airports (but they only really usually catch less than 50% of the time).
Not a big deal but it was interesting to see it on the sign.
