I am laughing at the visual of me wearing a head scarf, mouth tape, eye mask and an over the head CL2 mask... all I need now is the Victoria Secret backpack deal. Wonder if I should wear socks? nah... might be too much. lol my poor daughter is going on a 2 week trip with me soon and omg... she has not seen her mother decked out for sleep yet.

p.s. I don't think I will ever date again... unless it is someone I meet at an OSA support group

I got a ComfortLite 2 to try from someone here on the board. Unfortunately it just didn't work for me. I couldn't get the simple cushions to seal at all. Air blowing all over the place with the slightest movement. I moved on to the medium pillows and lasted about five minutes because I felt like I was suffocating, just not getting enough air. I switched to the large and was breathing fine but it took some work to get them to seal. I had a problem with the angle of the pillows. Even bending the little metal thingie didn't quite get then straight enough. It also seemed like it required a lot of adjustment everytime I put it on.
The other problem was the headgear. The neoprene is pretty thick and substantial and I started feeling like my head was in a vise. I've been using the Breeze which has little in the way of straps so to be fair I guess perhaps I just wasn't used to having a Boa Constrictor wrapped around my head. I never did last through a whole night with it.
It's a shame because the material the pillows are made out of is very comfortable and I did like other things about it. It definitely had potential but I just couldn't get it to work for me.

Has anyone tried the Direct Seal cushions for the CL2? I like the CL2 best of the masks I've tried - when it works. The problem is, it's only working for me about 50% of the time right now. The other times I either can't get the pillows to seal from the start, or I wake up in the middle of the night with leaks and can't get it to reseal and have to switch to another mask.

I think part of the problem is that I have "slotted" nares - they are long and skinny. It looks like the Direct Seal cushions might work better in this case, but I wanted to get some feedback from someone who has tried them before I order them, because buying a pack with 3 cushion sizes to try costs as much as the whole mask.

Is that buying them from your local DME supplier or from cpap.com??

CPAP.com. I only call my DME when I know it will be covered by insurance.

CPAP.com sells the single Direct Seal cusions for $22.95 each, or you can buy a pack with sizes 1-3 or 4-5 for $79.95 (which is more than 3x the price of the single cushion - what gives?).

Maybe I'll use their sizing guide and try to estimate what size I need. Worst case I might have to buy 2 to get the size right. I just want to see if it's worth pursuing before I go through the hassle.

I have used the direct seals. The smallest I have is a 4 and it is too big for me. I get a very sore nose from them. I think a smaller size will work well for me. They do seal well and stay sealed all night. If you PM me your address I can send you a size 4 and a size 5.

Comfort Lite 2 nasal pillows to Trade

Post by jeanc » Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:49 pm

I have two new unopened Comfort Lite 2 nasal pillows - 1 size large and 1 size medium that I would like to trade for a size small pillow, a direct seal in a comparable size (small?), or a small size of the simple cushion.

I have also found the mask works best right after a haircut.......

I keep my hair very short, and as it grows out, the mask seems to move around more. It might just be my imagination, but I had my haircut yesterday and wore the mask again last night, with the direct seal, and my numbers were great!

Cliff - check to see if your headgear is attached correctly. When I first got my mask, the headgear was attached to the upper and lower points on the forehead support. I had a very hard time getting the mask to stay in place, because it wouldn't go down the back of my head far enough. Then I started reading the fitting guide, and the normal position is with the straps in the lower 2 attachment points. Once I made that change, the bottom strap fits lower and it is MUCH more stable.

The only problem I have now is with the nasal pillows leaking, I think because I am in between medium and large sizes. I wear the large, but sometimes they pop out of my nose and I lose the seal. Hopefully the new direct seal cushions will fix that - can't wait to try them (thanks again, Brenda)!
