Snoredog,
I appreciate your feedback, particularly since it agrees with what I was thinking .
As you suggest, my newer CF2 is and should be my default mask, but when it becomes too uncomfortable, as it frequently does, I'm glad to have the Quattro (and Hybrid and 432) to switch to. I find that rotating masks is useful to me in spreading out the tissue insults to my face and nose.
I'm curious about what causes different results from different masks on the same person. I think I'll open a thread on that and ping -SWS and SAG. The CO2 retention issue seems particularly interesting, but I also wonder about dead space and vent rate, which I suppose influence CO2 retention. It seems to be assumed by many that a high CO2 flushout is a good thing, but it does not seem to be so for me. I want to investigate whether that suggests hypo/hyper-capneic drives, and so forth. Indeed, I am considering a second titration at Beth Israel in Boston or, more likely, at the Greenwich Hospital Sleep Lab in Connecticut to examine that, and other issues. Fortunately, my health insurance is very forgiving.
Thanks again for your thoughtful comments.
