hello
I have been reading on this forum on & off for about 2 wks now. I spent the night at veterans hospital for a sleep study approx. 3 wks ago.
I fell asleep they woke me up & put me on a machine. In the mooring they woke me & told me to go home. I called my wife to come get me. I was driving home & I realized how much better I felt. I seemed more alert, & even my mussels did not hurt. I how have a appointment on 08/13/07. It says I will receive a cpapp machine & instructions at that time.
Is it possible that using this machine could make a person feel that much better or was it just in my mind?

I did the sleep test in two nights, first one for diagnosis, second one with CPAP for titration, and even though they woke me up early (I had to get to the airport) I felt better, or at least thought I did. It may have been wishful thinking, but that's what it seemed like!

Some people do get relief and restful sleep their very first night on CPAP. I just wish all of us were that fortunate. For a good share of us there is an adjustment period and/or a struggle to find just that right "sweet spot" of pressure and THE right mask for optimum therapy. Count yourself one of the lucky ones and hope and pray such good fortune continues.

My titration night was the night I realized how much cpap was going to impact my life. I came home from it so refreshed and had so much energy. Sadly, they ran me out at 5:30 a.m.

I pressed my doctor to help me get my machine very quickly. Three weeks later, I feel better than I ever have. My wife says I have probably had OSA for least 15 years.

My titration night was the best I had in a long time, but when I got my machine, it took several weeks to start really feeling better...

Well I have to wait until the 13th to get my machine. I hope that I adjust to it quickly. I really want to get started. I`am hoping to feel as good if not better than the night in the hospital. My muscles hurt every day from the statin drugs, but the day I slept on the machine they felt much better.

SLR, if your muscles hurt on the statin drugs, you should tell your doctor immediately, like tomorrow morning. That's one of the signs of really dangerous side effects!

If you've already had it checked, don't worry. (I can't tolerate statins, but wish I could).

I felt good the first night and have felt better by the week, with a few minor glitches. It really is a miracle machine!

I had the same experience as Tuna. This therapy is a journey, rather than an overnight cure. However, now that you've found this forum, you're at least on the right path!

Welcome to the forum, and post your questions as they come up.

I want to say thanks to everyone in the forum for your replies. THANKS
To RosemaryB
Thanks for your concern, but I stopped taking statins about 1yr ago. about 2 months prior to that I would wake up go to the front room sit in my chair all day because every muscle in my body hurt. One day it got so bad I had my wife take me to veterans hospital emergency. The doctor there told me to stop the statin meds.
My muscles are still sore but not as bad.
The day of the sleep study they put me on the machine. I woke up and that whole day felt much better. I`am hoping that when I get the machine I will improve,
Thanks
