I admit....I went and got apricot seed oil and vegetable glycerin today. I wanted to get chamomile oil, as I read it was great for blonde hair.....but at $26 for less than an ounce that wasnt going to happen.

I am such a child....I just watched charlottes web with Faith. I sat in my living room crying like an idiot.

Sorry I have been out of town for a few days so I couldn't reply . I do not live in the U.S. but the neem oil spray I use is called Milbiol & it is made in Germany. I bought it it at a local pharmacy. It has no smell that I can detect but my sense of smell is diminished from years of allergic rhinitis. The good thing about Neem Tree oil is that it is toxic to the dust mites but not humans or animals. Just a reminder I am not associated with this product manufacter in any way I just like this product because it works for me.

I bought chamomile oil to put in my jojoba oil that I use to shave my legs with. I added it for it's antiseptic properties.

RobbieH took me to this great organic co-op in Bellingham today and I stocked up on all sorts of goodies, and this 20-something chicka heard me talking, and asked me a bunch of questions, and 30 minutes later, after I'd EVANGELIZED her, she had written down http://www.soapsgonebuy.com, bought some Dr. Bronner's, and was looking for Curly Girl.

I think I need to start going door to door with this. (Knock knock) "Yes?" "Ma'am, can I talk to you about your soap?"

LOL,
B.

Do any of you use a steam mop to clean floors? I saw one at the fair this weekend and it looked really interesting. I didn't get it because the thing was totally overpriced (things usually are at the fair) and I know there are multiple reasonably priced ones out there. Anyone with any experience with these things?

I've been contemplating buying one, but I've read too many bad reviews online that they are wimpy, so I haven't yet. They seem very pricey, so I've just not gone there yet.

Cheers,
B.

So, my daughter hurt her ankle last night. So I wanted to give her feet the royal treatment. She got to do a big girl foot bath full with massage with lavendar and a drop of peppermint. She loved it! Plus the swelling did seem to go down some. Today it is all better, and her feet were nice and soft.

I am tired. PMS sucks, and I have a headache. But at least I know the pill did not let me down again. lol

Hey Jennmary,

Thanks for reviving the thread! Your little foot rub pamper party with your daughter sounds like soooooo much fun. I hope i get a girl next time so I don't get left out of this cool mom-daughter thing. I'm such a girly girl with the knitting and the intense interest in all things handmade that I would hate to miss out on passing that on. My sister once joked, "Jen, you are more likely to have a gay son than a girl!" I still have to chuckle. (She meant murphy's law since I wanted a girl so much.)

When I was preg with Harry I was actually terrified he would be a boy (I didn't find out til birth) because I had never, ever been around boys and had no idea what to do with them. The whole idea that I felt that way now seems ludicrous because I can't imagine having a better child than Harry. He is pretty special and I wouldn't change him for the world. He is actually making a beaded necklace right now as I type--good for the motor skills so even my husband doesn't mind when I haul out the beads every now and then--he makes a necklace that he wears for a few hours then it gets tossed into the bottom of the toybox to be thriftily recycled and put back in the bead box by mom later!

SOAP (and other handmade stuff) UPDATE:

My lipbalm (10 tubes--next time I'm makin more!) turned out awesome. The color from my lip liner that matches my fave lipstick made it an awesome color. My only complaint is that it doesn't have much staying power. It absorbs fast. So, I need to do more research to find out what to use to make it last longer on the lip.

Soap: I made the newbie mistake of not fully understanding the lye to fat ratio and that you are supposed to substitute fats--every fat has a different saponification value. I used the MMS lye calculator but I guessed the amount of olive oil I had on hand incorrectly and substituted grapeseed oil for part of it which has a diff sap value so I ended up with too much fat for the amount of lye I used. The soap cured into layers: the bottom 1 inch looked like real soap, then there was a 1 inch layer of kind of clear glycerine looking soap and then there was a very thin layer of oil on top. So, I poured off the oil, chopped up everything else, melted it slowly in the microwave in short bursts and then poured it back in the mold and it cooled and I cut it into honking big bars and it is drying now. We lathered up with some little shavings and it is SOAP! Yeah!

I made Christine's homemade cleaner and it is working great in the bathroom.

Things are going well. I'm almost recovered from my surgery. Just a little pain now.

My hair had a relapse of bad dandruff because I couldn't keep up with my home remedy treatments during my recovery, but they were working before so I'm going to revisit them and hope to get the druff under control for once and for all!

Jen

Okay, I finally placed an order with Chagrin Valley Soap:

https://www.chagrinvalleysoapandcraft.com/index.html

I got a wide selection of sample sizes of soaps, shampoos, lotion bars, and their whipped shea butter. I'll report on how I like them once I get them.

My face is still breaking out... It's better than it was last week, but still not really happy. I got some new oils, and started over with a completely new mix. I raided some ideas off this website:

http://www.moogoo.com.au/category13_1.htm

Under Oily skin: Ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Organic Sunflower Oil, Avocado Oil, Castor Oil, Vitamin E, Geranium Essential Oil, Tea-Tree Essential Oil, Lemon Essential Oil, Juniper Essential Oil.

I couldn't find Rice Bran Oil anywhere. Any ideas?

Seems to work okay. I'm going to do a big major steam right now, and pray.

Finally googled Rice Bran oil... Duh...

http://www.swansonvitamins.com/webapp/w ... 682&R=5856

Hmmmmm.... Maybe I'll ask at Trader Joe's.

Cheers,
B.

My face acted up for a few days.....but I think it was a combo. PMS plus I didnt wash or do OCM or ANYTHING for like 3 days. (I know, its gross).

My lip balm also came out great. I did only 6....making a lot more next time. My sister who has the worst lips ever didnt want to try it as she was scared they would just get even worse. She finally tried it....and loved it.

Want to make lotion....but cant find emulsifying wax anywhere.
