Do you make your own spray, or buy it? If you buy it, what is it called?

If you make your own, what's your recipe?

This sounds very good!!! Thanks!!!!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Hi, all. I didn't have time to read all the posts in these 26 pages, so forgive me if you are already aware of soap berries. In case you aren't kept informed of healthy products in NewsTarget by Mike Adams, you might like to read this. Read the whole article, but I excerpted the following which peaked my interest:

"Soap berries can be used to clean laundry, hair, skin, countertops, children's play areas and much more. I'm going to be using this to make pet shampoo, body wash, garage cleaner and a natural veggie wash. The saponins are extremely versatile. Anywhere that you need soap, you can use soap berries (even on carpet!)."

Here's the article: (dated and received today)

Soap berries co-op purchasing update

Yesterday, we announced our soap berry co-op purchasing arrangement that would allow NewsTarget readers to acquire soap berries (a natural, chemical-free laundry detergent and household soap) at a group wholesale price, with environmentally-friendly packaging. You can see the original announcement at:

http://www.newstarget.com/021958.html

So far, we have received hundreds of emails requesting reservations for these soap berries, and a staffer is right now tallying the total demand. It will take another day or two to go through all the emails. We expect to have an announcement on this by Monday. Stay tuned, as we'll announce this via email.

We thought long and hard about whether to offer this service to readers, by the way. Ultimately, we decided it was a good idea to leverage the combined buying power of NewsTarget readers to acquire this important product at a group wholesale price. Together, we all have considerable power to negotiate better deals than what we could get alone (or what we'd find at retail).

Regards,

Alisha

Jennmary, you posted about being an avid sunscreen user. As I was looking at the soapberry article that Alisha added (Thank you Alisha!) I saw one on the sidebar about sunscreen and started to read it. Wow!

Here it is http://www.newstarget.com/021903.html

I will be printing this one out to read and research. I am not in the sun as much as I used to be, but since I live in California and have a pool, I am outside all weekend in it.

Welcome to my world....

I'm thinking it was a combination of things that lead to MY face being all BAD. I think I went to town with some "organic" acne gel that may have been too harsh on my face. I think ACV and my face don't really get along. And I think it was my "monthly." AND, I think if you use the OCM, you really need to steam your face and do a mask once a week, religiously, which I didn't do.

I'm slowly healing. I did a steam and mask on Sunday night, and have ONLY used OCM oil on my face since then. This morning, between washcloth steams, I got out my blackhead tool and attempted to get some stuff out. I've found that if I wait until after the shower, my face is too tight to get anything out. I think it helped a bit.

Anyway, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
B.

Thanks for the link, SB! I couldn't find it.

While I think he has one or two good points, being very fair, and watching my mother and grandmother undergo repeated facial surgeries to remove carcinomas, I think he's also a bit of a nut job.

I do think it's worth looking for "natural" sunscreens, and to practice covering up with hats, clothing, parasols. Can't hurt to eat more berries. But to claim that sunscreen is hogwash entirely doesn't sit well with me.

There are NUMEROUS lines of natural suncare out there. Just research the ingredients and be an informed consumer, just like you're doing with all the rest of your hair and skin care.

BTW, found this site in amongst other links:
http://www.dirtyhippiesoaps.com/

Too funny! Couldn't resist sharing!

Years ago I went to a dermatologist who finally gave me the key to clear skin. I ate a very low fat diet to stay thin and didn't drink enough water.

Hydration: He told me to drink more water using the formula of dividing my body weight in half and convert to ounces of water and drink that much daily.

Body oil: He also told me to eat more of the right kind of fat. Clear running oil through our skin keeps it balanced, clean, and helps avoid early wrinkles. Fats to avoid are those that turn solid at room temperature. Butter, beef fat and bacon fat are examples of fat that turns solid at room temperature. Chicken and fish have liquid fat. The good news is following this also keeps cholesterol low.

Cleansing: Use a very warm but not hot wash cloth to moisten and warm your skin before applying cleanser. Gently rub in cleanser on oily areas and lightly apply very little on non-oily places. Rinse the face using your hands with warm water first until there is no more cleanser and finish with splashing on cool water. Pat dry.

Hydration, body oil, and cleansing in this way was key for me. I hope it works for you too.

The OCM has been working really really well for me up until now. Skin looking better than it ever has. Then all the sudden this week it gets all crazy.

The really really really super duper scary part of it is that the only time in my life I can remember my sking doing anything like this was when I was pregnant with my daughter. I am knocking on wood with both hands right now.

I am on the pill.....but I was on it when I got pregnant with Faith as well.

Ok....not even going to think about that possibility. Shutting it out of my mind. Unless I am late next week....then I will be in the psych ward at the nearest hospital.

I'm on the pill too. I don't usually get "monthly breakout." I USUALLY am constantly broken out, then clear up once a month.

Maybe OCM is making us monthly girls?

Hugs,
B.

Found this just now googling "oil cleansing method":

http://www.moogoo.com.au/category13_1.htm

I think the "recipes" look really good! Maybe I'll try to replicate some of these.

LOL,
B.

Oooh, I'm going to try that! I hadn't heard of it being used for allergies. Thanks for the tip.
I've always heard that neem oil has a terrible scent? You didn't find this to be true?

Oh yeah, it smells gross. But maybe if it's diluted enough it's not as bad.

I guess it would just depend on the "recipe." I'll have to see if I can find the product the person posted about, or how to make it.

It's not like I can smell anything other than plastic with the mask strapped to my face, so in my case it probably wouldn't matter.

Neem oil is contra-indicated for those wishing to be pregant.

As is Pennyroyal, if you plan to start manufacturing your own bug repellant.

I bought some homemade bug repellant oil with pennyroyal in it. I really haven't had much chance to test drive it, since we have so few buggies right in my neighborhood. Maybe this weekend. I'm going to the horsefly capitol of BC tomorrow...

LOL,
B.
