I hadn't read that before and was seriously going to put one of the little cotton capsules from the previous Pur-Sleep on the tray just to use them .
I don't see that using those little cotton capsules from the old system would hurt a thing. It would accomplish the same purpose.

I am still (for many nights anyway) using the old Pur-Sleep system.

Bret, are you doing any testing on the old system, will we ever see it come back approved for use?

What a wonderful product!

My comments have probably been said in some of the above posts, but because I was fortunate to be included in the trial, I thought I would share my thoughts!

Packaging: Everything well protected and easy to open. I think an eyedropper system would help me see how many drops I am using.

Kit: I believe a travel case sold with the basic kit (up the price) would be well worth the extra $$$. I was so thrilled with the scents, I will be ordering more. Because peace and clear seem to be the most mentioned, I would only include two scents in basic kit along with two pads. Your extra pads could be sold in sets of two as well. As the consumer, I would still order the basic set and then order the extra scents I was interested in trying along with extra pads. As a business owner, it would increase revenue.

Sleep: OMG, the best ever. I learned that the smell in the bottle was not exactly what was going to come through the mask. Now I want to try all of them. Then I want to try all of them in various mixes! Had a great night!

Room smell: My hubby, who normally doesn't like air fresheners or the like, said the smells are pleasant and actually is happy about this new turn of events.

Note: My daughter burnt chocolate tonight in a plastic cup in the microwave. Smoked the entire house up! We have tried to air out the house (texas rain!) but we are having a hard time. I at least have the knowledge that I will have a wonderful smelling sleep!!! Feel bad for the rest of the family.

I LOVE this product. I was newly diagnosed when pur-sleep was pulled. I purchased my own essential oils and pads and just set them by my machine. I was not impressed and I believe it is because of the delicate mix of oils.

I am not using the ceramic holder because I was too excited to get it upstairs and was stupid and was carrying too much and it dropped and broke. My 9 year old found me sitting on the bottom stair almost ready to cry. (Had strep throat and was running a temp - acting like a baby). I decided finally to go take a nap and decided to put the difuser pad onto a ceramic tile for the night. It worked fine although not near as nice looking and contained as the proper holder. Came downstairs later to my son trying to glue it back together with Elmers. So sweet.

Sorry so long everyone!!! One benefit of the length . . . now I have probably put you to sleep!

Thank you so much sleep-guy . . . for changing my life.

Personally....I wouldnt use the old style diffuser. This is not to say it is a bad product. It just isnt something I would have used. I like the new diffuser and only decided to try it because of the new design.

What a nice boy to glue that back together. I lost my grandfather in March. I was in the room crying when my daughter who had turned 2 only days before came up and wiped my face and said "mommy no cry, no cry" It just made me cry more. Got to love the sweet things your kids do every once in a while.

There shouldn't be a problem using the old pads in the new system. The concern is that if something light is used (like a cotton ball), it may block the air-intake. No guarantees how well the little pads will work in the new system, however.

As for clary sage, it is on the list of essential oils generally recognized as being safe for human consumption by the FDA (GRAS). There is no mention of any pregnancy precaution. The FDA does not include anything on the GRAS list unless there is affirmative evidence of safety; hardly every oil is on the list. The GRAS list is relevant for risks posed by inhalation because, from a toxicological standpoint, ingestion poses the highest practical risk as compared to dermal exposure and inhalation.

On top of that, the source that many people consider to be the definitive word on this subject, Essential Oil Safety by Robert B. Tisserand and Tony Balacs (Publisher: Churchill Linvingstone; Copyright: 1995; ISBN: 0-443-05260-3) contains no such precautions for clary sage. In any event, the pur-sleep oils contain only 1-2% clary sage, an extremely small amount.

The clary sage plant has been used as a medicinal herb for thousands of years. The pregnancy precautions seem to have something to do with the traditional use of clary sage during labor and delivery--somehow that traditional use seems to have transformed into a pregnancy precaution. The Tisserand work goes through pregnancy risks in a lot of detail, primarily from cases where a person attempted to use EOs to induce miscarriage. According to Tisserand, he is not aware of a case where an EO resulted in a miscarriage.
Thank you for addressing this. I apologize that it has been brought up b4. I am aware of how old wives tales get perpetuated and am glad to hear that such thorough and scientific resources exist on the topic. I was looking into ess. oils to be mixed w/carrier oils to be used topically for skin issues. Everything about clary sage sounded great except for that caveat. I'm going to see if I can find this resource for myself just for curiosity sake at the local library. I'm geeky that way! Herbs sure seem to be steeped in mystery (forgive the pun) due to their long use by lay folk. I find the whole thing facsinating!

Hello
I tried the Peace & Clear combo the last 2 nites. I wasnt sure if it was the smells or volunteering to feed the Homeless Vets that make me sleep so well. I slept great. I really think the pur-sleep had a hand in it. I'm not even getting up to go the bathroom as much. The smell is just wonderful.

gasp wrote:What about the dropper bottles here? http://www.sks-bottle.com/Essential-Oil ... ttles.html

Years ago I used a diffuser and remember some oils disintegrate materials such as the diffuser bud that went into the oil bottle before my diffuser atomized it. Perhaps it's the same with the dropper bottles bulb top?
I keep getting feedback on the euro top dropper bottles and I'm not sure what to do about that issue.

The bulb dropper bottles (above) come in .5 oz sizes and on up. 5ml is 1/6 of an ounce and there's no dropper cap (that I know of) for that size. There is also a "rod" cap that has a little glass or plastic rod extending below the cap (think wart remover) but they don't come in the right sizes, either. The business needs 5ml and 15ml size oils.

So this is what I think I'll do--when the 15ml size bottles are added, we'll include some dropper caps (rubber bulb) as an add-on item. I still don't want to package and ship EOs in a dropper cap--some but not all EOs really go after that rubber.

With a bit of practice I have found that the little euro dropper cap bottles aren't that hard to use, though they don't always do what you want them to do.

Thanks again for all of the feedback!

Yes, i have found that it takes a little finesse but once you figure it out, you can get it to only put out one or two drops at a time. Just go slow.

odawa, of course it was pur-sleep . Actually, your experience is similar to many who posted during the first trial back in March and April. Glad to hear you got some good sleep.

I tried the Pur-sleep aroma therapy system recently,
and I immediately thought that this is one of those concepts that seems so simple, it made me think “why didn’t I think of this?”

The first night I tried Peace because I knew I couldn’t lose with lavender as a main essential oil. I wasn’t disappointed because I really have always liked lavender and I’ve found it to be very relaxing. Using Peace seemed to make it easier to be able to just “drift off” into sleep, and naturally that’s always a good thing while using xpap. I thought Peace had an excellent blend of essential oils.

On the second night I tried Spice, and to be totally honest…I didn’t like it.
Perhaps I used too much, but admittedly, trying to get just the right amount out of the bottle does take a bit of getting used to. Spice does seem pleasant enough, but *personally*, I just didn’t find it to be relaxing.
I also tried Clear, and if mixed with Peace, it seems to provide a desirable effect.

I think I would definitely be interested in trying the Rosa at some point because based on the description I read at the Pur-Sleep website, it seems worth trying. I like the fact that all essential oils are used, I seriously doubt that I would try any product made from imitation oils.
What I would like to see is Peace coming in a larger size bottle that perhaps includes an eye dropper top.

I just bought some creme, fresh and paradise from Sleep Guy - I did not like the spice by itself, so I got up and added a drop of creme - wonderful! Went right on back to sleep.

I went back on the pur-sleep site and wrote notes down on a card that I keep with my oils - which oils I have and which ones they suggest mixing, which ones I tried (how much) and those I love so I will not get them confused - I have 6 vials now.
