For the first time since being on cpap Apria out of the blue calls today to ask me how my treatment was going. I said good no thanks to them. The agent on the phone goes "I noticed you haven't ordered any supplies in X amount of months I can put that order through for you today." I said no thanks that I was ordering them myself through another DME.
I asked why I wasn't getting a bill anymore for my cpap since I am on a 10month rental. She looked it up and found out that Apria had to pay out for my machine because they failed to get authorization past february. So now I am free of Apria. WoooHooo Yipeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Laugh for all about DME!
Lucky you!!! They called me after 6 months too. Just wanted to see if I was in need of any help adapting to xpap! They said they would put me on a 3 month call list, It's now 6 months later...no call yet!

Ha! I started on CPAP 09 Oct 06. My local DME supplier has yet to call me for any maintenance, filters, mask, etc. And since I'm insured via Medicare as my primary my Resmed S8 Elite is a capped rental for 13 months.
Thank goodness I don't have this same local DME supplier for my 02 supplies!!! And bless my local 02 DME supplier for being willing to let me try a few masks until I found the one that works for me and who gave me some filters for my Elite even BEFORE I asked them if they could/would provide my CPAP supplies other than the Elite itself (since I was stuck w/the other DME supplier until the capped rental is completed).
Ooops! I take that back. I did get one LETTER from the Elite DME supplier asking about my compliance. I just had to tell them I was using my Elite every night. I didn't have to provide any proof of that, just my word in writing that I was using it.

Did you say Apria??? I just had the misfortune of dealing with them last week! After several tries to get someone (and it always sounded like they were having a party over there), I get, "Oh, we're so sorry, HIP won't cover your equipment, but it's only $1000!" Found the same equipment through CPAP.com for $437, and they're much more professional - and pleasant!
I'm sorry, but that's pathetic. I certainly don't mean to sound snobby, but how could some customer service rep who's probably not making an enormous salary say only $1000. I'm willing to bet that if it were coming out of his/her pocket, it sure wouldn't be only!Jeanie821 wrote:D"Oh, we're so sorry, HIP won't cover your equipment, but it's only $1000!"

Oh, I agree. I figure it's just Apria being stupid.darthlucy wrote:I'm sorry, but that's pathetic.
