Need a Full Face Mask -- Help Please!

I have been using a Mirage Swift II for about 3 weeks and like it a great deal. However, I have not been able to overcome my mouth breathing and realize I need to go to a full face mask in order to both make sure I am getting the best treatment and to eliminate annoying my wife with the sound of air rushing out of my mouth!

I am intrigued by the nasal pillows and mouth combos as they might address the problem I had with my first mask, the Activa. With this, I had irritation problems on my nose and upper lip. I also have facial hair which does not make it any easier.

So, if I can get some advice as to experiences with full face masks or the various nasal pillow and mouth mask, that would be great.

BTW: I have tried a chin strap and do not want to glue or tape my mouth shut.

I love my Resmed Quattro Full Face Mask. Might want to look at that

From all I have been able to see is that the two best to look at are both Resmed. The Ultra Mirage Full Face mask and the new Mirage Quattro.

The only problem is that some of the Quattro's have a leak problem at the elbow. A rap or two of plummers teflon tape seems to fix the problem. You can do a search and see the discussion and pictures of the fix.

If you like nasal pillows, you might want to get the Hybrid.

I think the Hybrid could very well be a good option for you. I found it very comfortable and had very little problem adjusting to it. However, I have very small features and a narrow face, and couldn't quite get the mouthpiece to quit leaking at the corners. I think that when I slept on my side (which I usually do), my pillow would move the mouthpiece just a little, but enough to cause it to leak on the other side. Other than that, it would have been perfect!

The other "hybrid" mask is the ResMed Liberty. I have seen several reports from members who did not think it has the quality of the Hybrid, but it's another one you might want to try. We all have our own unique face to fit, and our own preferences.

I tried the Hybrid and besides leaks on the side, the nasal pillows kept popping out of my nose. I also use the Swift and like it but I am having the same problem as you with mouth breathing. I think I may try the Hans Rudolph next.

One thing I've learned from this board it that what works for one may be terrible for another. That said, I have the Ultra Mirage Full Face mask and it works well for me. I have an oily skin so I wash the mask every day and my face right before I retire to prevent leaks. I like that I don't have to crank it down to hard to get a seal. I wish you well in your search.
