Ever Notice how some threads. . .

Post by socknitster » Tue Jul 10, 2007 8:15 pm

Ever notice how every time a hot topic comes up, the thread degrades into an argument? Especially when certain members join in. We all know who they are.

I'll admit to being too tired to be here tonight; was foolish enough to speak my mind instead of turning off the computer and finding some other pleasureable way to spend my time.

I won't make that mistake again.

I'm here to learn and to help--not to get in a pissing contest. Especially since I'm not mean enough to win one.

If it isn't fun, why do it?

I even got called dumb tonight. How insane is that?

Lesson learned, don't get your hackles up if you don't agree with something. Just agree to disagree and press: LOG OFF.

I have enough stress in my life. I don't need to worry about what invisibile people thousands of miles away from me think about what I wrote.

Sigh.

I'm really not usually argumentative. I aplogize to anyone who may have been offended.

I know what you are talking about Jen......and I am SURE that some people here see me as quite arguementative. Thats ok. I am not worried about it.

I know exactly which thread you are talking about and I just started some mess there too. lol oops.

Your arguements are always well thought out and make perfect sense to sane people. I enjoy reading ALL of your posts. Dont worry about adding your opinion.....we all know I do it, regularly.

(I am in a little pms mood tonight so I just couldnt help my self from adding to that other thread. )

Tired or not, you are right on Jen. For some reason, people feel freer to vent their anger/aggression/frustration on the internet because it is like annonymous. Kind of like people get behind the wheel of a car and their real aggressive nature comes out. Is best to just walk away. Some people have to have the last word and you can never win. Actually, the only way to win, is not to play at all. Hang in there, you are the opposite of dumb.

Hey that split-city guy is always coming around here to ruffle feathers with outrageous hypothesis. Although he may be a bright guy, he has no practical experience ... his view of the journals that he reads is illuminated only by the reflections off the ivory tower and not the true light that shines upon the real world.

Yes there are a few folks around here that like to stir things up ... heck I even do it sometimes. It's normal ... just like in everyday life. Learning to deal with stress is a very good quality to have ... so just try to think of it as practice for the really hard bumps in life.

I guess what I'm saying is not restrict yourself from speaking your mind and when you realize that YOU agree to disagree ... take a deep breath and be staisfied that you did your best to show your mind's perspective of the issue and know that you are smart and know how to play.

So say good night to Jethro ... it's time for some locamotive breath with the sleep number machine

I've have always wondered what the prize was for a pissing contest, since so many people want to get into them. Now, do you win by distance or is it based on volume? Is there a commitee than governs the rules of the contest? Are there leagues? If you you take diuretics is that considered doping? Do people with weak bladders have a natural advantage in the scoring?

One altercation with Snoredog constitutes always?
DreamStalker wrote: with outrageous hypothesis.
Yep, just as outrageous as people believing that the Earth was flat, that the Earth was the centre of the universe and that the Moon was perfectly round?

Explain why increased pressure in the abdomen is not a likely force to push the diaphragm and airways up towards the end, perhaps reduces tension in the upper airway, making it more collapsible. There is evidence to support that the airway becomes more collapsible if you reduce the amount of stretch on it and vice-versa. Diaphragm ascent may reduce tension on the airway. Is this really that outrageous??

So working in a sleeb lab, performing research studies on OSA patients infers no practical experience?

You do realise that these same journal articles are the same ones which inform us about:

The risk of developing skin cancer following excessive exposure to the sun

Or the risk of lung cancer if you smoke

Or the risk of diabetes if you eat too much sugary food

Or the risk of having a car accident following a few too many to drink

Or the risk of OSA on cognitive function

Are these journal articles gibberish?

The diuretics might help with the cumulative volume but don't help with the distance. I don't even want to contemplate the effect on taste.

It's what makes forums fun. Life with everyone agreeing and sticking to the norm would be dull. I'd rather see some feather ruffled every now and then than live with a bunch of phlegmatics.
