Castile Soap Source

Post by RachelM » Wed Jul 04, 2007 8:33 am

For those looking for Dr Bronners Castile Soaps--plain, lavender, mint, whatever, an internet search turned up several online sources. Try it. Also, your local GNC may also carry it.

I use Kirk's Castile Soaps, the same soap my aunt used 65 years ago. Jim

In WA & OR, Fred Meyer's carries Dr. Bronner's in their Organic Cosmetics section, but it's twice the cost as at Trader Joe's. I found Peppermint at Trader Joe's, and someone else told me that TJ's has a house brand of it that's even cheaper. I didn't notice that, but next time I go to fill up, I'll check it out.

Kroger's now owns Fred Meyer's. You might check at Krogers. I have NOT found it at Walgreen's, Rite Aid, or Bartells. Nor Safeway nor Albertsons.

Do be careful - it's very LIQUID and you can end up using more than you need to, if you're used to the modern GEL soaps. Squeeze gently...

Cheers,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

I you have a Whole Foods grocery or other natural foods grocery store, they will usually carry Dr. Bronner's. I use Dr. Bronner's "18-in-1 Hemp Unscented Baby Mild Pure Castile Soap" to clean my mask. I took a small bottle of it on my recent vacation and used it for everything from washing my eyeglasses to washing out my travel coffee mug. It is good soap and the entertainment of reading all of the wild spiritual, philosophical stuff printed on the bottle label is worth the cost - LOL.

Yes, Babette, and knowing Trader Joes, it is probably the exact same formula, made in the same factory. I LOVE the peppermint soap. I use it every day in the shower. It wakes me up better than zest ever could. Gotta love the tj price too!

Seriously, it is very invigorating!

You have TJ's in Indiana? I had no idea... The Midwest is this large black hole to me...

(I lived for 5 years in Wichita - I'm still mystified by the Midwest)

LOL,

Black hole? Most of the population of the country lives here. You coastal people, geesh!

Yes, we have TJ's. I have to drive an hour to get to one, so we go once a month and take a cooler and stock up and make a day of it. We visit a new restaurant or farmer's market or some other attraction too, usually.

The nearest TJ's are Indianapolis, 1 hour. Or Chicago, 2 hours.

We do have cities here, you know. It isn't only corn. You might just have to drive a bit to get to one and there aren't any mountains in our way either--we can see for miles and miles.

I grew up in Illinois and now live in Indiana. The coasts are fun to visit, but give me the midwest any day. At least we don't have tsunami's, hurricanes and earthquakes. Just the occasional tornado.

Jen

And, yes, us hayseeds do occasionally LEAVE the midwest. I've been to both coasts numerous times and have even LEFT THE COUNTRY! Gasp!

You do know I'm partly kidding and only minorly offended in only the most humorous of ways!

Hee hee hee... Yes, and you know I'm just ribbing you because I lack other uses for my imagination, right?

I actually have been attempting to visit Ohio for years... Long weird story. I've visited Missouri and Illinois, does that count?

I didn't realize TJ's was nationwide. It was A MAJOR BIG DEAL when we got one here in Pierce County. And not just that - in dinky little University Place! My hometown! It's such a major draw that you have to circle the parking lot repeatedly to get a parking space. Sheesh!

LOL,
B.

I understand what you are saying Babette. I've lived in Oklahoma for 51 years and I still don't get it.

I'm Ethnically Oklahoman. Was born in The City. Mom born and raised in Kingfisher, step-dad born and raised for formative years in Amber.

Explains alot about me.

Still mystified by it all.

GET OUT! ESCAPE! THERE'S LIFE BEYOND THE RED DUST!

Did I tell you my theory of where Nebraskans come from?

See, the wagon trains started from St. Joe. It got worse and worse. One night, the wagons were circled, and half the women wailed and cryed and swore it was only going to get worse yet, and they weren't going one mile more.

They stayed and became Nebraskans.

The other half of the women wailed and cried and swore it could only get better, it couldn't possibly get worse. They travelled on.

They became Oregonians.

LOL,
B.

PS - Okies come from prisons back in the old country.

I've got a couple of cousins that moved to Bellingham several years ago. They've been back to Oklahoma once over that last probably 26 years and I could tell by the look on their faces that was the last time I would see them unless I went up there. Of course, they came during the hottest summer on record. We had about 60 days over 100 that year.

This lady picked lots of cotton when she was a kid so she knew about heat.

Yeah, you should definitely come visit us. Bellingham's way cool. If I could find work there I'd live there. Downside is winter - about the only place in Western WA that really SUFFERS from snow. Trouble with snow out here is it's WET and ICY as SNOT and all the hills. Snow was NO PROBLEM when I lived in Wichita, but I refuse to drive on it here.

Cheers,
B.

TJ's IS a major big deal! Where else can you get top of the line organics for less than the price of run of the mill foods at traditional grocery stores?

I'm allergic to milk and I buy rice milk at TJ's for a fraction of the cost I can locally. Also my fave cereal, Barbara's Shredded Spoonfulls. Fraction! Even with gas prices as they are, we still come out ahead and it is always a fun day!

We really wish one would come to our town. We have a freakin University for crying out loud. And most of the people I know occasionally drive to Indy to shop there.

I don't know anything about Nebraska or Oklahoma. They are one of the few I haven't visited.

This summer we plan to take Harry (age 4) on an adventurous vacation because hopefully by this time next year I'll either be big as a house or catering to a fussy newborn. He is finally big enough to GO somewhere. And we feel we better do it before the next one comes along. Thinking of renting a pop-up and just driving. Free spirits, the three of us, cruising the highways of the US. We could go anywhere!

That's such a great plan, Jen! I have some great pix of me at 5 from the Great Road Trip my parents took me on to Canada. Fabulous shots of Lake Louise. Cute kid shots of me feeding squirrels... Good times!

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
