cough
Could be. You can try turning the humidifier up or down to see what happens. Could be that you are now breathing a bit deeper and loosening stuff up. Could be a cold. I'd play with the humidifier a bit and see what happens.

When I started therapy 2 years ago, it seemed like every couple of months I was coming down with a cold or flu or whatever. The last event was Thanksgiving week of 2005, but I still get an occasional cough. Since the beginning, I have kept a bottle of Vicks Nyquil cough syrup on the nightstand. Just a little sip before masking up keeps things quiet during the night.
One good cough can mess up the seal of a UMFF.....

I think it is somewhat normal when first starting out, humidifier seems to help, BUT if you are taking meds for hypertension like DiovanHCT, that can lead to a cough.
When you go on cpap it helps to regulate your breathing from machine use (regulated breathing is an ancient Chinese method of controlling hypertension) which may naturally lower blood pressure, if you continue with pre-cpap dosage of meds it can lead to a dry hacking cough after a few weeks. You may notice cough, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, you may also develop muscle cramps in your thighs etc.
if so, see your doctor about a med review/adjustment if that is the case.
You might also try BIOTENE brand mouthwash before bed. It helps with dry mouth and irritation causing the cough. It comes in a smaller bottle next to the Listerine on the shelf, but it only takes a squirt, has a pleasant peppermint taste.

I've been using Diovan 80 mg for about 10 years. I'll keep this in mind, as I've had some periods of coughing recently. I was changed to Diovan from a different antihypertensive when first diagnosed because that med made me cough. I'll keep this in mind.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Coughs can also be caused by acid reflux which is often found in patients with apnea. Might want to look into silent reflux to see if you have the symptoms (a globular feeling in your throat that you are always swallowing down, clearing your throat against is the most common).

Interestingly, I've had the opposite reaction since starting treatment. I used to sleep with my mouth open and would wake up with a sore throat and congestion and cough. Since using the machine I sleep mostly with my mouth closed which means I no longer wake up with a sore throat and I have very little congestion and coughing. Maybe the humidifier has helped, or maybe I'm just not gasping for breath during the night anymore.
