Kind of funny, to call a mask that is populalrly decapitated "HeadRest".
How about this add:
"HeadRest" = The mask of perfection: Cut off the Headgear, enjoy your rest with the Rest....
At least then knew not to rename it again... whew, what a load off my mind.
O.
Aura/Everrest/Twilight whatever it is called

Given all the drama on this site as of late, I SHOULD have known that a divorce would be newsworthy! Thanks RG, for the reminder!!Wow! Will, my goodness! You just dropped that casually into the conversation!

thanks for your questions/concern
i finally decapitated my aura after blarg and babette sent me virtual courage, and it's much better, for sure, but...
yes, i've been using lansinoh on the pillows
yes, i do use the stretchy material thing
and i sleep on a papillow
no, i haven't tried wrapping the nosepiece...yet
maybe i'm just hyperaware...i feel these tiny leaks around the pillows sometimes and i can also hear a faint hissing...especially when i turn over from one side to the other, the whole thing seems to get shifted out of place...i was so surprised to read on another thread that blarg can sleep right on his face without it shifting!; when i wake up in the morning my face is like an oil slick (just another joyous side effect of cpap) and i wonder if it makes the interface slippery (?); i also switched to the xl pillows and that seemed to help although i don't have a big nose or big nares...
the whole thing is starting to frustrate me to the point of throwing it all out the window...and this morning's lovely gift was a zit on my forehead that looks more like a pineal gland growing out of my head! for a couple of days it was a dent where what's left of my headgear rests (i have a padacheek shoved in there to cushion it) and today it was big and red enough to cause cars to pull over to the side of the road--i look like a damn ambulance! so the fun and games continue...
sorry about my bummer attitude but that's where i'm at these days
thanks again for asking, though
sharon
hi cathy,Sharon, why is it leaking? Do you use some kind of salve (Nayr gel, chapstick, KY, etc) in your nose? Have you tried tying or wrapping the nosepiece with some tension to bring the sides closer together? Have you tried tying a pantyhose tight or piece of stretchy material around the base of your nose?
thanks for your questions/concern

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got...
Sharon, pull those pillows together to where they touch -- and secure them. As stated previously, I use paper tape and it holds if it's wrapped around a couple of times.
I think your pillows are simply spreading apart when you move around and leak a little.
Also, you might be using too much lanolin/grease. I don't use any. If you need protection, try chapstick. It might be a little more sticky.

I have to do that too, just like Linda described. If you will take your fingers and gently press the two little tubes that lead down each side of the nose a bit closer together, and if you see that that stops those last tiny leaks... you need to tie something around those little tubes to pull them closer to each other.sharon1965 wrote:no, i haven't tried wrapping the nosepiece...yet
And...are you using a second "leg" strap to cradle the nasal pillows? One strap won't get the job done for me. I use two with my decapitated Headrest. I route my two straps like so:

I use one of the dark foam filters we put in our cpap machines as a pad up there. I'd definitely use a thicker pad than what you're using at the forehead. Also sounds like you might be tying the top strap too snugly.sharon1965 wrote:for a couple of days it was a dent where what's left of my headgear rests (i have a padacheek shoved in there to cushion it) and today it was big and red enough to cause cars to pull over to the side of the road--i look like a damn ambulance! so the fun and games continue...
I'll bet you get it tweaked, Sharon; but if you can't ever get it to work for you and want to sell it, please let me know via PM or email. Gee, I feel like a vulture circling over all the Headrest de-capping experiments out there.

thanks linda, i guess i'll try that...i must have missed that particular "fix" in all the threads on the subject

i started using the lansinoh because everyone was raving about it and it's a little bit sticky...it doesn't seem to matter if i use it or don't...i tend to go back and forth

yup, just like the pic you posted above, same positioning

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got...
Sharon, I use two makeup applicators, the white circular spongy things, to cushion my forehead. The pads change the angle of the mask - almost make it point away from my nose, so I use the lower strap to bring it back to my nares. I don't know if this reverse tension has anything to do with it, but my mask rarely leaks. (But like you, when it does, I really know it.) And I use Chapstick Natural pretty liberally every night.RG Said:

I have really dry skin, so I feel bad that you're having problems with oil but don't have any suggestions other than to make sure you use breathable material for your straps. I will gladly send you two like I use. Just PM me if you're interested.
Take Care,
Cathy
