REMStar vs. M-Series
I sure hope the M-series I have on order works better than the legacy unit they loaned me. I've been using it the last three nights and it sure is off as far as my breathing algorithm (or whatever you call that). The machine cuts the duration of the inhalation phase before I'm done breathing in.
That is the thing I love about my ancient machine is it matches my breathing patten perfectly...

Wayne, then obviously they didn't set your loaner up correctly.

Sergey,I am currently with Rem Star Plus. You can see my machine’s report here
http://www.sleepapneasymptom.medgrip.com/cpap_mask.html
I like my Rem Star. It is extremely quiet. The problem is – it is not software compatible. Can anyone recommend similar machine (quietness is number one priority, size doesn’t really matter for me) but with software capability.
Thanks.
Sergey.
Either try to get a Remstar Classic (non-M) Pro2 or a Remstar M Pro which should be similar to your Remstar Plus... if you have the humidifer for the Plus, then try for the Pro2.
If the humidifier works on your Plus it will work on the pro but I think the m series uses a different humidifier.cflame1 wrote:Sergey,I am currently with Rem Star Plus. You can see my machine’s report here

I really don't know what all the criticism of the M Series machines is all about. I've owned the Pro 2 tank and the M Series Pro, as well as a 420G for travel (which is no longer needed, since the M Series is so great to travel with).
I guess we all have different sensitivities, but I find the little blue lights very pleasant (the reports that they "light up the room" are, shall we say, gross exaggerations, in my opinion). The humidifier tank is not the largest, but it is refreshing not to have to struggle to open it, as one does with the tank humidifier.
To each his own, but it would be refreshing if opinions weren't often submitted as objective and universally applicable fact.

True, although the pressure settings themselves are fine, it's the duration of inhalation/exhalation phase that is off compared to my old reliable machine.Linda3032 wrote:Wayne, then obviously they didn't set your loaner up correctly.
I have to say it has been rather frustrating working with this new doctors techs as they don't have near the knowledge that my old doctors techs had back in 1997. My original doctor was excellent and he made sure he had only the best on his staff. Unfortunately for me, he rode the sleep apnea money train for 10 years, opening several quality sleep doctor offices then sold out two years ago. Now he lives by the lake, coaches his kids t-ball teams and plays around on the city rotary club.
The new tech had me explain to the other techs what an inverter did...
Oh well, we will get through this I suppose. One thing I'll say for the m-series is it would have been nice to travel with back in the days when I was lugging my huge old machine and separate humidifier assembly all over the U.S. and Japan.
A CPAP doesn't time the inhalation phase, not even with Cflex, nothing changes until you start to exhale........ Anything else and the machine is broken.Wayne02 wrote:I sure hope the M-series I have on order works better than the legacy unit they loaned me. True, the doc says it is a matter of sensitivity of the machine. He and I are going to talk about that issue tomorrow because this loner respironics legacy bipap is unusable for me. And if the m-series that he has on order for me has the same operational characteristics than that is going to be a problem.Goofproof wrote:A CPAP doesn't time the inhalation phase, not even with Cflex, nothing changes until you start to exhale........
