Stopped Snoring ... now my spouse can't sleep?!?
One of the many reasons I married my wife 4 years ago was she never has been bothered by my snoring and has always commented it HELPED her sleep (believe that one?!). My best/worst story is waking up someone on the other side of a concrete block wall before so my snoring is/was kinda loud.
Now w/ the new Darth Vader setup and no snoring, SHE cannot sleep. Not to mention the new array of equipment in/near the bed that makes cuddling kinda weak.
Anyone else have similar concerns before or can point me to a post related to this?

My situation was exactly the same. She foudn the snoring comforting. However, my not breathing at night did cause some added stress when she woke up. Believe me, she will get used to it. The biggest thing you will have to face is when you find the noise she makes at night keep you awake.
In regards to cuddling, we seem to be able to snuggle just fine. I mean it wasn't like she was wrapped around my head. Things may be a bit awkward, but they are a bit humorous as you look back on them. It will become a part of your life and you'll be able to add smiling together into the equation.

My sleep doctor says this is quite common for the non OSA spouse. They wake up wondering if we are still alive since they can not hear us snoring.

My father snored so loud that the neighbors could hear him, and we had a very large house on a large piece of land. Needless to say, eventually he was diagnosed with apnea and was on a CPAP until his last days.Coastal_ZZs wrote:Now w/ the new Darth Vader setup and no snoring, SHE cannot sleep. Anyway, when I left home I could not sleep for months from not being able to hear his snoring. Eventually I was able to sleep comfortably, but to this day I sleep better with white noise in the room. Probably so I don't wake myself up from my own chortling.
Yup, hose head wife and Mom here. My hubby used to peel the paint off the wall with his snoring- his nickname is buzzsaw if that tells you anything. He swears that is why he married me too, cause I was the only one that could put up with it. I always slept through the snoring, once he got his CPAP it was definitly a change. It took me a few weeks but I got used to the no snoring and adjusted to CPAP- now I find if he is away for the night I miss the sound of the machine. Give it some time, she will adjust. As far as the cuddling goes, well, we do that stuff before settling down for the night, besides if I want a little late night "cuddling" I can always wake him up! Hang in there it gets better!

We have no problem cuddling, although some positions are harder with the Hybrid than with my old CL2.Coastal_ZZs wrote: Not to mention the new array of equipment in/near the bed that makes cuddling kinda weak.

Spouse misses snoring
Got a friend who separated from her husband and she had trouble sleeping after he was gone because she missed the sound of his machine. I guess that which is familar is comfortable, but that sure isn't what's usually heard from spouses of snorers. As a child my Dad's snoring was just a fact of life - hardly noticed it, but I bet Mom did right next to him.
Hey, maybe there is a market for CDs of night sounds - and I don't mean crickets!

WARNING: COMIC IN THE ROOM
Tell your sleepless wife she has sleep apnea and recommend her for a sleep study. Get her her own cpap machine.
After she's done beating you to death with YOUR cpap machine, mention to her that she can sell that used on cpaptalk.com.
GOOD LUCK!

His and Her CPAPs
On the way home from the workshop, hubby said that I should watch him to see if he stops breathing - just in case he has apnea. I think the grim heart health statistics made him think twice! Doubtful he does, but I was glad to see him open to it - you never know. I wonder if they make his/her CPAP machinesBabette wrote:WARNING: COMIC IN THE ROOM

Gasp, notice I didn't sit through the heart failure lecture? I think that would freak ANYONE out.

Heart Health
I wondered where you went.Babette wrote:Gasp, notice I didn't sit through the heart failure lecture? I think that would freak ANYONE out.
I too avoid at times. I found myself not wanting to read my entire report, even after knowing my AHI was 52.8. I put it off as if I could stick my head in the sand and it would all go away. I brought my report to the workshop with the intention of reading it there, making that day my 'getting real about apnea' day. I've made peace with having to wear a mask and now even more fully understand it will change the quality of my life. Anyway, I was glad to see the report had my sats never falling below 91.1 during my sleep study. That is not to say that I don't pump adrenaline every time I gasp for air coming out of an event! I now understand more fully how adrenaline over time is so hard on the heart.
Now if I could just get the neurologist to read the titration report and write the script before I die gasping for air
What I don't understand is if the adrenaline is pumping my heart so hard, how come I'm not getting the benefits of aerobic exercise in my sleep????
I should easily have dropped these last 75 pounds by now!!!!
LOL,

There are times when our three beagles can be heard snoring in the laundry room where they sleep at night - keep in mind there is a wall and a bathroom between the laundry room and our room!Snoredog wrote:get yourself a dog, make the dog sleep with her
Now I can't hear them over the CPAP machine and mask.....I can still hear my hubby snoring, however......snoring drives me crazy so I still wear ear plugs.
