Reader not recognized???

Post by DeltaSeeker » Tue May 29, 2007 8:49 am

I went to download my data after my trip and when EP started it said there was no card in the reader. I cleaned the card, inserted/reinserted the card, also checked it was being read in the CPAP machine. Still wouldn't read the card. So I unplugged the reader. When I plugged it back in, "Device not recognized."

So, I re-downloaded the drivers from 2factors and rebooted. Still not being recognized.

I'm using 1.8i. Do I need to reinstall 1.8??? I'm jonesing for my data!!!!!

Help!!!

Thanks

Linda

One tip is to plug the reader directly into the computer and NOT through a USB HUB.

Other than that, make sure you are using the correct drivers and there shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Craig,

It's plugged directly into my laptop - not a hub. It was working before and recognizing everything. I can't think of anything I might have installed that would have "broken" the recognition.

Anyone know if reinstalling 1.8i will fix the problem???

I had the problem that the card reader was not detected (is your problem that the card reader is not detected, or that the card is nor read?) and I was told the card reader must be plugged in the exact USB port it was originally plugged in... This was not the problem for me, but I hope it will help you!

I am also reading that the gold chip on top of the card is sensitive and can get dirty or damage (especially when on a trip...). That might be the reason you card cannot be read. Someone posted a way to clean the chip (rubbing alcohol???)

Good luck.

Xian,

I tried the eraser trick to clean the card, but I believe this is a reader issue, not a card issue. The CPAP recognizes the card but my PC reader won't. It's plugged into the same USB port it always has been. I tried taking it out and plugging it back in the same port but now my PC doesn't recognize the reader!!!

Downloaded the drivers and rebooted but that didn't work either

Wondering if 1.8i has reader drivers and if so, if I need to reinstall 1.8i???

ANYONE?????
TIA,

Linda

Don't re-install 1.8. I wouldn't think you'd have to.

There should be a reader driver install program on the 1.8 CD.....should be named "Setup.exe" in a folder with a name relating to card readers. Depending on which driver you downloaded from 2-Factors (one is good for Encore Pro and the other isn't), you would want to delete your existing driver, unplug the cardreader, (probably re-boot), do the "Setup" program install then re-boot your system.....THEN plug your reader back into the USB port.....and if there are additional install steps, follow those.

I am probably the last one to try to give computer tips (see my posting on my Encore PRO / reader issues!!!), but I just have a comment: sounds from your posting that you are not sure the ET has a driver for the reader.... I was told that your should not install the card reader driver from the software that came with the card reader, but to install the driver from the ET disc (there is a card reader install .exec file in there...). This is was I did, and it seemed to work (until other problems started to creep up, of course!).

Could you uninstall the current card reader driver from your computer and re-install a driver from your ET disc? Might work...

Again, I am no computer expert, by a long shot, so handle this advice with caution!!!

Good luck, I certainly know how frustrating this is...

Xian,

Did you mean EP....for Encore Pro?

I think she's aware of that (I hope). Her system WAS working until something went "poo-poo" in the last day or two.

Yep, meant EP for Encore PRO... (need to check my sleep data, today has been a blur!!!). Sorry for any confusion!

And your directions to install the driver from the EP disc (without re-installing the whole thing) was much clearer!

I will quietly go to bed now...

Thanks Den,

I'll try that tonight. It was a very frustrating day yesterday since I was dealing with both that and having to sanitize my entire house since my daughter contracted ringworm :O . With everything I had to deal with (plus inventorying things damaged in a bathroom flood from upstairs a week ago) I didn't get to sleep until 2:00 a.m. - sure that didn't help much either!

One tired lady!!!
