How do you take the charts from Encore Pro and Encore Pro Analyzer and paste them on to a message like this? I would like someone to look at them and give me some advice on pressure.
Thanks.

So get them hosted somewhere like photobucket. Then get the web address (url) that actually leads to them. If they're pictures, you can put them in a post by putting that url in between [ img] and [/img] (without the spaces). If they're pdf files, just paste the url in a post and we'll be able to click on it and see.

Gee guest,
I showed my sleep doctor a stack of Encore Pro printouts once, just
to show him why I switched to an APAP, and how I was able to determine
the proper range for the APAP. He was amazed. "I only thought there things
kept track of compliance", was his remark. Next he contacted his NP for
more information. Guess who I picked for my next appointment? But
she (NP) has moved on to graduate school. Therefore, I guess I'll see
the doc again, and see what he has learned in the meantime.
Oh! I almost forgot. Why did the NP know more about CPAP treatment than the doc?
Simply, because she is a hosehead. I'll take the advice of a fellow hosehead, over a degree, anytime...

I too have found that the knowledge provided on this forum is more detailed, comprehensive, and accurate than what I got from my OSA healthcare professionals (doctor and DME/RT) and they have all kinds of fancy medical certificates/diplomas posted up on their office walls.
... maybe Guest has a few of those fancy things all framed up also?

My dad is a doctor. He's the one that tried to get me not to have a sleep study. Guess I should have taken his advice and forgone treatment for my severe OSA.
Nothing wrong with seeking some free advice as long as you realize that it's worth only a bit more than you paid for it.

Blarg?
Blarg,
I miss the pic of you in Australia (I think that was the opera house behind you).
So why did your dad think you shouldn't have a sleep study?

Well, the pic I have up currently is a pic of me in Australia.... Opera house to the left and Harbour Bridge to the right.

He listened to me sleep for an hour or so and said I didn't have sleep apnea. He thought I was overreacting to the severity of the problem. When I told him I stopped breathing 32 times an hour during the study he said, "Well, I could have told you that..."
So basically, being an ER doc, he didn't see the severity unless it was posing a direct threat to my life, as in desaturating down to 60s or so. Ever since I've tried to put to words how much better I feel on a daily basis, he's researched it and now realizes there's a big difference between "gonna kill you" and "gonna make you walking dead."
But yeah, he just told me it was a waste of time originally. People often don't realize that doctors are people too. They know a lot, and they're worth trusting to a point, but they're not infallible.

I have a friend that has pretty severe COPD. When he went to his doc about it the Doc never once thought of a sleep study. I suggested it and he asked the doc and the doc said, "that's a good idea". Two days after his CPAP study they had him a machine at his house. He was de-saturating really bad.Anonymous wrote:why would you want a bunch of non-doctors evaluating you??
I'm not a doc. The doc didn't "think" of a sleep study.
DUH!
