My "prairie wolf"?
It's (scanned and cropped) from a picture I took in Yellowstone Park in the fall of 1989 (the year after the fires). We took a drive up there to see the damage from the previous year, and it was hanging out alongside the highway next to the Yellowstone river between Fishing Bridge and Canyon Village. It wasn't skittish at all and was very cooperative for some photos.
Outside of the park, it's hard to find many that will wait that long after you stop your vehicle......they don't want to become a "target".

I run into a pair quite often in the mornings when I have the dog out for a walk. Living close to the city they don't have much fear of people. I had to wait on one a couple of days ago on the golf course before he got out of the way...didn't want to hit him with a golf ball.

Hey! I worked at the Yellowstone Lake Hotel the summer of '89. Any chance you stopped in at the gift shop? I worked at Old Faithful the summer of '90.
