Moodiness is an understatement. I just plain feel sorry for myself. Also, sometimes (I am going to sound like a wimp) I tear up when I get ready to go to bed. Silly, huh. In fact, sometimes just reading the forum makes me tear up. Maybe after I have been on cpap for a while longer these things will go away. Hope so.

Good luck to you and thanks for everyones helpful information.

I just had my first night of sleep study. My questions is, when I have the gastric bypass surgery and lose weight, will I still have to wear this equipment? I have not received all results, but oxygen level did go down to 76. That they did not like.

Hey Becky,

I thought I was the only one getting teary-eyed at the drop of a hat!

I've been on this since November. But I remember when I started wearing the mask and all, I would start to cry often when putting that thing on. Still do sometimes. I felt/feel like a hospital patient having to wear that thing, and it is a demoralizing feeling, don't you think? It puts me into a pity-pot mood big time. Then I feel even worse because I think, "why feel so miserable over this when there are people out there with worse problems?" Then I'd feel guilty over feeling bad, then feel bad over feeling guilty.

And between you and me, sometimes I would begin to cry outright, even. And then the nose would get stuffed up, and I couldn't breathe!! This meant I couldn't use the mask, which meant I wasn't doing the right thing, which made me feel even more miserable!! Viscious cycle sometimes.

Then I'd start all over feeling pity, guilt, pity, guilt......goes on and on sometimes. So moody? ....... Yes. We got moody!!!

Linda, embarrassed over being moody/emotional

There are much worse things....

Had to go to visitation for a coworker that passed away on Sunday. She was 48, fought breast cancer for 5 years....

Be thankful that your condition just requires a mask, and not chemotherapy. Be thankful that your condition is curable, there are many that aren't.

I agree with Mikesus. There are a lot of worse problems. I don't really feel oh pity me because I have to wear this space cadet thing. I guess I in a way feel lucky because maybe I will not have to have the same problems as my parents. They have not been diagnosed but I believe they have it because of the symptoms they have, but they will not listen to me.

I understand the feelings though... You do look pretty funny. My son called me a sea monster. I just told him it helps me to breathe at night. I think it would be helpful with a very supporting spouse. My wife just tells me how unattractive it is, and I think is bored with me talking all about it.

Anyway... I feel more tired today and I actually slept than I have in a long time. Is this because my body is actually telling me how sleep deprived I am? I have even taken my provigil. I might be coming down with a cold.

What kinds of things should I ask my doctor on my follow up appointment?

I almost slept through the night! I woke up because of the hose wrapped around my head, but I woke up with a terrible neck pain. But feeling more awake today!

Rockslide-
It probably didn't help that that drive from Cincinnati to Columbus is the MOST BORING STRETCH OF HIGHWAY EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI! Being from Tennessee, when my husband takes me home to Marion, just north of Columbus, I keep looking down the rows of electric towers, where I can see them for 4 counties, and wondering "What did these people do with all their hills???"
