2007 Sleep Study

Post by pemoha » Wed Apr 25, 2007 6:28 pm

I had my last sleep study on Feb.2, 2007. My pressure is now 25/20, it was lower. I feel like I'm in a loosing battle with sleep apnea. I thought that I would improve but I'm getting worse. I don't know what more I can do to improve my situation. The higher pressure is almost unbearble.

That is a lot of air!!

Our max pressure in my lab is 24/20 and it is very rare that some one needs that much air.

It is no wonder your are having so much trouble. I would say to call your Doc back and tell him that you are unable to tolerate the flow and see what he/she says. I would also suggest getting a copy of your Report and posting that as well. There are many on here that would be able to help you interpet it.

WOW, that IS a lot of air! Think what you could do with that puppy - pump your bicycle tires, clean out your computer keyboard, blow up balloons for children's parties, take up airbrush painting, or cool off your dog in summer.

Seriously, I hope your doctor is able to give you more information, and that you're offered suggestions to make you more comfortable. My heart goes out to you. Good for you to come here and ask for help. Keep posting, and I'm sure you'll get it.

I talked to my dr's office and told them of the pressure not being comfortable and all. I was prescribed a bipap auto, Respronic Bipap auto m series, for 5 days and then they will read the smart card and tell me what the results are. After the first day I felt great, i called the dr's office and told them that I want the bipap auto m series, I hope they give it to me.

I am really interested why your pressure went to 25/20 from 17/14(taken from signature).
Do you believe you had your study done at a reliable lab?

2007 Study New Pressure

Post by kteague » Mon Apr 30, 2007 6:46 pm

I too am wondering about those results. First I think I would want to see the study where it showed how many apneas at each of the pressures until they reached your recommended pressure. Next I would ask to have the study reviewed by someone who did not score the first test. I hope a tech type will kick in here and explain what kind of scenario could cause a pressure to be assigned too high. If it REALLY is an accurate pressure for your needs, I'm glad your initial impression of the bipap is favorable. Best wishes for things getting better and better.

2007 Sleep Study

Post by pemoha » Tue May 01, 2007 1:38 pm

This is from my records of my sleep Study
Resp. events: 1 obstructive hypopnea, 18 obstructive apneas, 111 resp. effort arousals (RERA), 1 central apneas, 0 mixed apneas over the course of the entire night for an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) of 3.1. Resp. disturbance index (RDI) was 20.4. The lowest oxygen sat was 85%.
No EKG or EEG abnormalities. I need a sleep tech to interpret this.

I didn't see what the RDI was. Also now I need to vent. I have Unicare HMO. They will pay 80% and I pay 20%. For the Respronics Bipap Auto M Series, I have to pay $513. So what does that make the machine about 3000? I don't hava a calculator. What is going on? Online, that machine don't cost that much.

I really want that machine. It worked so well for me when I had it for 5 days, I just felt so good each day I awoke, but I cannot afford the copay. So I'm taking my Resmed Vpap III and let them change it to the new pressure numbers.

Did you get the download from the BiPAP Auto?

Aromatherapy may help CPAP compliance. Lavender, Mandarin, Chamomile, and Sweet Marjoram aid in relaxation and sleep. Nature's Gift has these and a blend of all four called SleepEase.

How do I get that? When I returned the bipap auto to the DME they read the card.

Last I knew Houston, TX was still in and part of the USA. That being the case you have a legal right to a copy of the printout from the bi-PAP auto as it is a part of your medical records. Just ask them for a copy.
