Comfortlite 2 Question...can any CL2 users help me?
Just started using a CL2 last night. Overall was fairly happy with it. I was using the simple pillow (nose mask). The problem is, there was a leak right where the pillow attaches to the plastic elbow. I thought it was fairly sizable and made the interface noisier than it should be. I tried moving the pillow around on the elbow, but no matter what I did it wouldn't stop.
Is this normal for this setup? I only running 8 on my CPAP. any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Did you take a good look at the CL2 in the daylight? There are exhaust holes in the plastic elbow for release of the C02.
I know, that sounds confusing after all the discussion and warnings about leaks and leak rates and mask fit to avoid leaks, etc., etc.

I did and I know where the exhaust holes are but leak appears to be coming from right where the silicone sleeve attaches to the plastic elbow. It is a pretty strong leak too.Slinky wrote:Did you take a good look at the CL2 in the daylight? There are exhaust holes in the plastic elbow for release of the C02.
Pull the nosepiece completely off of the plastic elbow and rub you fingers around where the nosepiece seals. There may be some small pieces of plastic or something else for that matter that might be keeping the nosepiece from sealing. Once you are sure nothing is "in the way" you might want to try putting just the tiniest amount of lubricant (saliva, Baby Oil gel, etc) to help the nosepiece slide onto the elbow.aeroscout17 wrote:

And be sure to inspect the nosepiece to see if there might be a hole in it.
Just my 2 cents.

I know you said the leak was where the mask goes on the ball joint at the rt angle elbow but here's something else to consider which happened with mine and also some others in other threads. Mine leaked where the elbow joint connects to the vertical tubing (the turn and lock joint). I fixed it with plumbers teflon tape around the vertical tube, and then just put the elbow joint right back on over it...no more leaks. The mask may also leak at the ball joint slightly if not pushed on securely or rotated to the point it almost coming off the joint.

I got 15 pages of possible threads - can you be more specific to the search?

I am on my third night of using the CL2. Just switched from the Swift because I really needed to be on my side or stomach. The Swift is a good mask and I can't fault it in the 6 months that I used it. It's just that I got comfortable enough with therapy that I started to migrate back to my favorite sleeping positions. The Swift is not very receptive to side or stomach sleeping.
That being said, I've had "OK" nights with the CL2. I just have to adjust to the exhale being a little more forced. That's the only complaint. It's not as easy as the Swift. I'm on straight CPAP. Ramping from 5.4 to 9. But, it's much quieter. Once I relax and let the mask and machine do their thing, I find that 4 or 5 hours have passed without waking. That's a good thing for me. The mask is very resistant to dislocating and leaking with me. I'm rather fond of it already.
