On the Resmed S8 Elite....HOW????

Post by dieselgal » Sun Apr 22, 2007 4:59 pm

am sure I will hate myself for asking BUT................
How do I get the card out??? I pulled that little door off on the back and I can see a green circuit board looking card. Is that the card that is suppose to be taken out and read? If so how do you get it out? I can't get enough of my fat little fingers on it to grip it?

I don't think you have a card back there...

My father has a Resmed and I see the same thing on the back of his mashine... but when my father saw it he freaked out and wanted to know were the card had gone.

Turns out the Sleep Tech "Kept the card" the last time my father took his CPAP in to have the data read on it.

Good luck...

The data card for the Resmed S8 Elite is usually in a white cardboard folder about the size of a standard business size envelope. If you are given all the proper equipment and accessories that card should be in the carrying case in the "pocket" on the outside of the case w/the velcro flap. You only insert the card when you download the data, when it is done collecting the data, which takes just seconds, a message appears on the LED screen to Remove Card.

If you don't have the card after searching thru your carrying case, its time to talk to the DME about just where "your" data card is and "why" it was not provided w/the rest of the Elite accessories you and your insurance are "paying" for.

You might initiate the conversation by stating that some of your Elite accessories are missing: the data card and its folder plus the padded mailing envelope. You need it for when you visit your sleep doctor so that he can download and examine the data to monitor or improve your therapy.

The pic Wulfman posted is the datacard. It's 7/8" x 1 1/2" and slides into the slot there on the back of the machine data-chip side down. The machine will display CARD INSERTED and COPY COMPLETE when all goes well.

You may ask your Dr to send you a card. My DME, at the request of my Dr, sent me a card to copy data and I had to send it back or get billed $15. I did purchase one online for my own use.

Thanks guys, no it doesn't have that white data card and to be truthful I haven't gone through the pockets of the machine but if it isn't there you can be sure I will be raising heck with my DME.

Rich, you DME had a lot of moxie removing and keeping that data card. Its part and parcel of your xPAP "kit". Mask, hose, humidifier are separate items, but the card and carrying case are part and parcel of the xPAP "kit" at one purchase price originally. It is reasonable and one would expect to pay additional for a replacement or additional data card but for the original card that SHOULD have come w/the xPAP at no charge? Your DME is one cheap sheister.

Hi Donna,

You've already worked this out, but for anyone else who may read this thread:

This is the card you take out:

Under no circumstances pull on this one:

I say this because I know someone who tried it!

He said he was really having trouble getting it out, so I sent him the links to DSM's site which had photos on it, but then I took these which show clearly what the card looks like in the slot. Once he saw them he realised that he had been trying to pull the gizzards out of the machine. He didn't break anything though, and sent his card down with 9 months of data on it so I could autoscan it and post the results back to him.

A lucky escape I think!
