"COTTONMOUTH"
"COTTONMOUTH"
I'm new to cpap, and although it helps me a great deal, I still have the usual problems. ONE of my major complaints is "cottonmouth". My mouth gets so dry that even my tongue will stick to the sides or roof of my mouth. Sometimes I can barely open or close my mouth. I would really rather not use a chin strap on my already over strapped head. Any ideas? Thanks.

Do you use a heated humidifier? Do you, by chance, have a machine that collects data so that you could look to see if the leak graph shows that you are mouth breathing? I have found that a lot of humidity helps to minimize breathing through your mouth. Usually when I see on my data graph that I was breathing through my mouth, it was because I had forgotten to turn on the humidifier or plug in my heated hose. I know this can be a real pain. I hope you can find a solution.

My unit doesn't give any info. or graph. But I just called my MD and I think he is going to advise the humidifier and full mask. Thanks
