I suggest you call 800-200-9842 and they might send you the new shell if you say that you are evaluating the Hybrid for the RT.

Also are you routing the hose up or down? It is quieter when the hose is routed down because the exhaust does not ricochet off the elbow.

I tried them at that exact number just yesterday ... I asked if they or anyone else would be selling just the new shell by itself. I was told that one can only buy the pillows, oral cushions, elbow, headgear, and clips seprately ... basically everything except the shell. She said "the shell is the mask and therefore one has to buy the whole mask to get the shell".

Also, their customer service has declined significantly ... I was bounced around through 4 different people before I got the answer noted above.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Re: Leak rate?

Post by SelfSeeker » Fri Apr 20, 2007 3:06 pm

Hello Rita,

The passive Exhalation Port Flow is on the Hybrid instruction manual.

Personal leak rates are either read from the machines or downloaded form smart cards etc.

I have read of people using the Hybrid at pressures of about 18.

I think someone with ap poitned chin may have problems with the hybrid. Getting to try one on will be a great help.

The company told me that the newer shell will be better with pressures of over 15. I am not sure if that is for both auto and straight CPAP.

For many mask the tighter the mask is on the more the leaking.

Mind if I jump in here? I no longer have insurance & I'm needing a new mask. I like the full face masks but have a problem with leaking especially around the eyes. The Hybrid looks like a dream mask! Since places do not accept returns once the package is open, I need to do my homework. Does anyone here have a pressure of 16 or higher? If so. will this mask work better than the older masks? In order for the older ones not to blow off my face I have to tighten them so tight that I get marks on the back of my neck & sides of my face from the headgear & the whole edge of the mask itself leaves indentations on my face.
Thanks for any input

Re: Did I get the new Hybrid?

Post by SelfSeeker » Fri Apr 20, 2007 3:08 pm

Hi Tom,

The minimum for the older version is 3 cm water. The one with the 6ol/min at 15cm. I think that is the one you said you have/

Refer to the warnings you will see a minimu listed pressure.

sleepytom wrote:Hi:
Just received my Hybrid from cpap.com, and the front page of the manual says "the deadspace associated with this mask is less than 125 cm."
below the graph.

The headgear is black on the outside and gray on the inside. I can't tell if the exhalation ports are smaller than, well, than the larger ones.

And I'm a little worried because my setting is only at "6" -- is that enough for this particular mask?

Thanks for any help,
Tom

Hi Stages,

Using the word comfortable is very good.

I find using lip balm helps with the breeze. I like the aussie hose that keeps the breeze warm. I do not find the air as forceful as when I was sung the NAII. For me the most forcefull air seemed to be the Swift.

stages3n4 wrote:Just got my new Hybrid yesterday. I have to say, I think I like it. Made a bad assumption though, it came put together, with the two other sizes of mouth and nasal items neatly sealed in their bags. The mouth piece in place was "Large" so I assumed the nasal was too. Wrong.

After spending 90 minutes trying to get a seal on the right nare (left one never leaked) I got everything together and went to the bathroom to examine things. Medium nasal pillows were on. Switched out to Large, and things were going good. Except, sometime before I woke, one of the straps came undone. I showed a 133 L/min leak.

I'm assuming (again) that the high leak rate is due to the high rate of leaks that I had.

Anyway, found it quite comfortable (can one use the word comfortable on a cpap forum?). Soft contact with skin, and having facial hair, was pleased with seal while straps were connected as directed. Only complaint, is that the air flow seems to blow directly at my lips, has anyone else noticed this?

If you have the new shell is it reasonably quiet? I don't know if anyone has the old shell and the new shell to compare, but it would be nice to know if the new shell is quieter.

Has anyone with the old shell been able to get a new shell? I know Hybrid provided new headgear to people who called and asked for it. What about the shell?
I have the new shell, and it is just about dead silent. The only time I hear anything is when A) I have a leak, or B) I put my fingers in front of the vent holes.

Just got my new Hybrid today (05080 Rev B). Seems that I have the older mask (60 l/m @ 15cm). The Hybrid rep told my DME provider that if a client got an older mask and wasn't happy with it that they would swap it out for the newer mask. So I'll give it a go this weekend and see from there.

I've read that the black headgear is the old and the grey is the new one. Mine is black on the outside and grey on the inside. Is this the new grey headgear?

FYI ResMed will be releasing a competitor to the Hybrid mask in May. It apparently uses Activa and Swift technology together somehow. They are also coming out with a new regular FFM that uses Activa technology. Should be interesting to see how they compare to each other.

Really? Do you know anything about ResMed's Hybrid competitor? Is there anywhere we can find out something about it now? Impatience, impatience!!

Selfseeker:
Sorry I'm a beginner with this terminology. Does .3 water mean your machine must be at a "3" (whatever that is)?

Thanks,
Tom

Though I'm no Resmed fan, this Quattro does look like a promising mask.

And the Liberty looks like a good patent violation suit for the manufacturers of the Hybrid:

yeah... and from the looks of the mouth seal... I'd rather have the hybrid.
